Thinking of you so much this holiday season. I had my good friend paint this up just for you. Carrying on your family traditions as I do every holiday. Everything about Christmas reminds me of you. Making sure everyone is bought for and beyond . I sure hope you are with all of our loved ones in Heaven this holiday season. I cannot express how much I miss you and how much I love you. You are forever in my heart, thoughts and prayers. You must be a truly beautiful Christmas Angel and I wish with everything I have, I could see you, hug you and tell you how much I miss and love you. Today marks the one year of my nanny passing away. This day will never get easy for me as I miss you every single day. There are many little things that remind me of you and it's so hard not to break down and cry. I miss your stories and always trying to figure out what actor was in what movie. Everytime we went and visited you your smile was so big it lit up the room and you could see how happy you were no matter how much pain you had. I miss your laugh , your hugs and just your sweet face. I love you more than anything and this will never be easy. I really hope you are watching over us all but especially my mom. She has been trying so hard in school and hopes you can see her journey. Dec 5th .. the hardest day I will have for a long time

One year since you left us, one year my heart has been completely broken. The pain does not get any easier. The only comfort I have is when I dream about you.Mom, I miss you so much. I don't know how to get through this without you. I still need you. I miss your smile, your laugh, your voice.... Everything about you. I keep you in my mind and heart every single day. I wish I could understand why you had to go, or even accept you're gone. It hurts so much, I can't even describe my pain. Everywhere I go, I see something of an Owl and I think of you. I wish I could see you and hug you. There is no hug quite like yours Mom and I miss them so much. I will keep your memory alive for the rest of my life. You were an amazing Woman, Wife, Mother and such a loving Nanny to your Grandkids and Great-Grandkids.They all miss you so very much. Your smile would light up any room, and your laugh was so loud, happy and contagious, one of a kind. I continue to try and make you proud, I hope you see all we do in our lives. I hope and pray so much you are with us in spirit. I wish I could see you right now, see how beautiful you are as an Angel. You will always be with me, no matter what I do or where I go. I will forever carry you in my thoughts and in my heart. I love and miss you so much it hurts beyond words could ever explain. I love you Mommy. I just still can't believe you are gone. Dearest Sister Cathy,....As I sit here and re read loving notes from family and friends, and their feelings and their great memories of you....I miss you so much.....your love and laughter spread so far and wide....you lavished it on whoever you met....you were such a wonderful person!  I sigh as I think of you.....now that Bobby is up there with you, mom, dad, and other loved ones from the Ames and Oldershaw  family....so many loving family members are up there with you...I miss you all....just like you, Bob suffered for many years....I miss him so....such a good man, wonderful father and great husband!  We knew that the day would come when we say our goodbyes, we knew that it wouldn't be easy. It's easy to remember what we were, all the laughter and the time building memories. It's hard to accept that it won't continue.  My heart breaks that you are gone but I have comfort Knowing that you are at home with Great grandpa and Great grandma and everyone else who were patiently waiting for you. I have comfort knowing that when it is my time you will be there waiting for me too.  Thank you for being My grandmother, Thank you for My mother, because without her I would not be who I am today I would not know strength, compassion , gratitude , love and empathy, Everything I am today is because of her and everything she is today is because of you. So thank you. I will miss you everyday Until we meet again. I love you.

One month today you left us..... but you will never leave my heart, my mind or my life. You will always be with me..... I love and miss you so much Mom. It's always the little things that break me down..... New Years Day I made a turkey dinner.... Cried as I made the gravy because I was remembering when you were teaching me how to make it. I use to get so frustrated with you because the gravy was perfect, then you would add a bunch of water to it so we would have more...... and I would thicken it up. :) I cook everything still to this day how you taught me.... Stuffing from your Grandma, your gravy and even the riced potatoes..... I've always tried to be a good cook like you, try to be a good Mom like you, and try to be a good Woman like you. Just seeing Butter Tarts in the store the other day caused a little cry..... How you would get so excited over them. I can't believe you have been gone a month. Doesn't feel real, I feel like I'm in an awful nightmare.... This picture has been on my wall since it was taken..... and there it will always remain. As you will always remain in my heart..... everywhere I go. I will always keep you with me.....I will talk to you everyday...... Hoping you'll hear me. I love and miss you so much Mommy. ❤

Dear Aunt Cathy...you have fought so hard these past few years..and now it's time to rest. It's time to live a life in heaven where pain no longer exists. You will be terribly missed by us all. You will always be in our hearts, never forgotten. Uncle Al, you have been there for Aunt Kathy day in and day out..you have been her rock. I hope that now you will allow everyone to be there for you..to be your rock. I'm so sorry Uncle Al, Wendy, Missy, and Ray..I wish there was some magical words that I can say to take your pain away. I just hope that you all know you are all surrounded by people who love her, and love you guys and that we are all around to support when and if needed. I love you guys lots...xxxx

Dearest Kathy,
We had the greatest connection as cousins. I loved our long talk about kids and books.  We used to write 12 page letters to each other, even though we lived in the same city. Others may not understand that. We both loved getting letters. I remember when you told me about a time travel book you read, written by Constance O'Day Flannery and so I picked it up and loved it, you started my love of time travel books. I remember telling you about Outlander and how you stood in line to get an autographed book for my Birthday.  I remember how we laughed when you told me about finishing a dress for one of your girls and in cutting a thread off it, you cut right into the dress. I told you my sewing mishaps and after comforting each other we laughed and laughed. We looked after each others kids a few times. The one thing I will remember about my wonderful aunt Kathy is that she was always interested in what you had to say. She made you feel important to her. I will miss her and her kind heart.

           Missing you is the worst pain I have ever felt. I am looking forward to being with you again one day. 51 years of marriage has flown by. Since the day I proposed, I have no regrets! We created a beautiful on going family together. 
        The best memory I have is when we would go to Las Vegas.... Seeing the excitement in your face was priceless. It really made me happy. I think about you all the time. I miss you. 
       I didn't say "Goodbye" to you, because we will meet again.

It is with great sadness that I write this note of sympathy for my cousin Kathy. She would have been surprised but happy to see so many family and friends come together to say goodbye. I hope good memories and the love of family and friends will help comfort each of you during this difficult time. My heart goes out to you all.

Aunt Kathy, you will be always in my heart and more so, forever missed. Thank you for all the love and kindness you always gave my way, even on the most trying days. Every fiber of your being, will always inspire me. You maybe gone, but my love for you, will always live on.

 WELL KATHY you were my avon lady for over twenty years and we worked together at SHOPPERS DRUG MART in the post office together for eleven years you were so kind and helpfull to all .THEN when i retired to come back to NEWFOUNDLAND we would send each other a CHRISTMAS CARD and we would always write a letter telling how the year went .HOW I will miss your letters but your in no pain now ,and you are with your family in heaven .SO your family will have peace with that .SO until we meet again GOD bless beautiful friend ( MARG)

        I keep thinking about you.... For some reason I feel better writing to you on here.... as If you'll get these messages. I miss you SO much.
        Remembering my favorite memories of you... So many memories.... Like going downtown at the Eaton Center walking forever... In every store! Swiss Chalet for dinner... you out-walked Dad and us kids! And when I was about a year old, you took me on the TTC to the Doctor's... couldn't figure out why I was vomiting, You over dressed me... made sure I was warm! :) When we were sick, you would always buy us a brand new box of crayons and coloring books. Every time I smell a box of new crayons, it reminds me of my childhood. "Quiet time" We would sit behind your curled knee on the couch.... I know now it was so you could nap as soon as we fell asleep! :) When VCR's came out.... You were SO amazed it would record TV and you can watch it again.... you recorded everything! Even Nintendo and Coleco! On it for hours! When Dad got paid.... you would lay out piles of money for all the bills and necessities...Then, our allowance. You loved being on the phone..... I always thought it was funny, when the phone rang you would put your hand on it until the third ring, then answer. Staying up til 3 or 4 am wrapping Christmas Gifts... Hot meals every Sunday and on cold wintery days..... You were so caring, I remember our School Bus driver's bus broke down, you made her stay and have supper until help came. I'll never forget your kindness. Hot porridge... taught us to eat from the sides so we don't burn our mouths. When you and I worked for Shoppers Drug Mart together.... It was fun and an amazing experience working with my Mommy. Your stories of your Childhood.... ordering butter tarts and chocolate milk from the milkman.... Loved hearing them all.... And of course my absolute favorite! When you and Dad left me home alone at the age of 5. Forgot I was home sick from school. I remember hearing the volkswagon pull up. I peeked out the curtain, you noticed the curtain move. Dad ran in the house thinking it was a burglar.... I was so scared I was going to get in trouble for staying home. You guys felt so guilty that you forgot I was home sick, I got so spoiled for days! ❤
            I still have so much to say to you Mom.... I promise to talk to you everyday.... Keep you in my thoughts and heart forever. This is so hard.... How do I go on without my Mom? It was hard this year not seeing our Christmas cards in the mail with you famous "Merry Christmas Mailman" on them. 
          The most recent beautiful memory I have is just before your last surgery, you and Aunt Linda singing "You are my Sunshine" ..... That was so beautiful.... Then you looked at us all and said "Wow, look at all the love in this room" I'm so happy you knew how much we all loved you, and still do. I love and miss you SO much Mom...... Until we meet again sweet Mommy xo

You were brave, strong, and really tough.
The battle you fought was long and hard  this I do know.
But it's okay Aunt Kathy it's okay to let go.

It has hurt us all when you left that day,

Dear nanny,
most of us can agree that you were our sunshine, and the person who light up our worlds. Every time I saw you your face lit up and had that amazing smile. you brought everyone joy and showed so much love to everyone , even the mailman. One of the best memories I have with you is helping you call out the cards to your avon game and seeing everyone especially my mom fight over the bubble bath and just the joy and amusement that it brought everyone always made her smile and laugh. I wish you were here to watch me grow up and become a police officer and so you could meet your grandchildren when that time comes and I wish you were there to see me walk down the aisle and get married. There is so much we all wish you were here to see but you are my guardian angel and you are looking out for us all so no matter what, you are with us and you can see how we grow.i am truly so thankful to grow up in such a loving family , the amount of people who came to visit you and make sure you were doing well. I can truly say you were the glue that held are family together and having the nick name "the iron lady"  the glue was pretty strong. The amount of love I have for you is so strong and I honestly can say that not a day will go by where I wont think about you. I was able to make 17 years worth of memories with you and I will cherish them forever. I love you more than words can explain. Goodbye for now nanny.

Every time I think of you, I'm at peace because you are in heaven with God and made whole!  No more miserable pain!
What I remember is, the long chats we had on the phone, at night when the kids were in bed sleeping.  Oh the laughter.....we talked about memories on Toronto Island and things you did that were so hilarious !  (I'm smiling now.). Then we would wander back to Vancouver and the silly, fun and scary things we did when we were growing up together!  (Now I'm chuckling out loud)...  you made me laugh so long that my face and belly hurt!  You sure had a swell sense of humour!  I won't miss that because I can bring back all of those memories of you and I'll be smiling once again!  I'm so excited that you're in heaven!  I can hardly wait to be reunited with you up there. We can hug and kiss and then I know you and I will be remembering and laughing, long, hard and loud!  Ha ha ha. What a happy thought Cathy, on another note....I was so proud of a Wendy, Raymond and Missy, for standing up and telling us some more funny stuff.  The way all three of them really expressing their love for such a wonderful, wise Mother.
You and Al raised three lovely children, grandchildren and great grandchildren!

Hi Mom,

I was one of the lucky ones  I had the best mother ever. You were here for me for 51 years. How do I go from Hey Mom, what do I do? to What would Mom do?. I miss you so much. Thank you for all that you have given us. So many memories are flooding through right now, I'm so thankful that I have them.

I am missing our conversations. Your sage advice. Your smirk, your laughter; especially the pee your pants laughter. And there was a lot of it over the years.  Watching you with your grandchildren and then your great grandchildren. How you loved us all! We still feel it Mom  I still feel it

You were so strong, stoic, independent. You are a big reason why I am who I am today. You will always be a part of me.  I feel that there should be so much more to say but I still can't put it down. Maybe one day I will be able to. I love you so much! Forever in my heart

      I don't know where to begin,  you've given me so many wonderful memories and there is still so much to say, I just want you to know that I love you so much and I miss you so much, I just want to thank you for all the times you were there for me from all those times we shared when I met you after work at Gerrard Square (we always had ice cream). you've given me wonderful advice that I always followed to keep me out of trouble especially the time when I first entered High School your advice was sound and always worked. You and Dad gave the three of us a wonderful Easter, an amazing Thanksgiving, and a beautiful Christmas, each and every year and I know we are all going to miss that. I hope I made you proud being your son as we did have tough times, I just want you to know that I am so sorry for all those times, and at the end of the day we were still a beautiful family. your heart was generous especially in the time of need and I thank you so much for that. Mom I just want you to know you will always be in my heart and you'll always be in my thoughts, I love you and I miss you.

May your angel and spirit guide lift you up to the heavens above awaiting for all of our arrival.

"Olivia's words" ......... Nanny is an Angel in Heaven...... Olivia and Logan loved their Nanny so much....... They ask so many questions..... I know they will miss their Nanny..... Love you so much! Your last two Grandchildren...... Olivia and Logan ❤

There was sure a lot of love and caring in all the friends and family that turned out yesterday and today to send Cathy off to a great place. The "Iron Lady" will live on forever in our hearts! In my 71 years of life I have never seen someone so strong with a will to live as Cathy. She fought like no one I have ever witnessed, for 4 1/2 years. At the end she won the honour of going to a better place and wait for the rest of her loved ones to join her. And as the minister said: " we hope she waits a long time and be happy to wait". In all the awesome 50 years I have know Cathy, she is the only person that signed her Christmas cards with " Thank you Mr. Postman" on the front of all the envelope, each and every year. I used to admire that she took the time and patience to do that. There is a lot more to say about Cathy, and, I think , her children and grandchildren said it all in their eulogy today. Amazing family. 
 Cathy was a sponsor of AVON products for 35 years, and was quite successful at it. The minister hosting her celebration of life realized during her sermon that she was one of her AVON customers. 
 So, to Al, my brother, their children, Wendy, Melissa, and Raymond, Cathy's siblings, Fran, Linda, Louse, Lorrie, and Gordon, and to all of us that spent our lives sharing her in our diverse celebrations throughout the years: Welcome to Heaven Catherine, you have earned the peace and happiness that comes with it Love always.......

Thank you for being a wonderful grandma and always telling not to do certain things so I don't get in trouble. thank you for being there for me

                             This is the hardest Letter I have ever had to write. Where to begin? I want to thank you for being such an amazing Mother. You protected, guided, taught, nurtured, loved your Children and Husband. Wiped our tears, shared our joys and always kissed our "boo-boo's" better. Even though you left me home alone at the age of 5, forgetting I was home sick from school, you and Dad went shopping! I forgive you! :) Calling us inside when the street lights came on! I have so many beautiful memories I will keep safe in my heart. I loved when all your Avon orders came in and I would help you sort everyone's orders.... Even though I had a few mixed up, you would later fix, you seen the pride and excitement in me, knowing I felt I was doing a very important job..... You protected my feelings! Thank you Mom! You were everything a "Mom" should be.....
                          As I got older, early teens.... I still wanted to help you..... but Me, protecting YOUR feelings Mom, I would deliver a few Avon orders in the neighborhood, but hiding the Avon bags under my coat because I was so embarrassed..... You have NO idea how much I want to take those moments back.
                         You were a beautiful Woman with pride! Pride in your Children, Pride in your Husband, Pride in your Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren and Pride in yourself. Your heart, was always so loving and giving. Making sure EVERYONE had a gift at Christmas.... from the Mailman, School Bus drivers, Avon customers, neighbors, your pets, all your Sisters, your Brother, your Nieces and Nephews to your Grandchildren..... You were such a caring, loving Woman. Everyone around you loved you so much. 
                       You carried so many traditions in our Family... Those traditions, I have always carried through to my own Family. And when I do them, I think "Mom did this with us" and smile..... I am proud to carry on your traditions and have some traits in me that come from you.
                         I can go on forever today with memories I have, all the times we shared, all the times you were there for me. But I will always keep them in my heart, keep YOU Mom, in my heart forever and always...... I have always LOVED listening to your laugh and seeing that beautiful smile..... I will keep that in my mind and heart always.  
                         I thank you Mom..... for EVERYTHING. You have always meant SO much to me and were SO important to me, and you ALWAYS will be.
                        This is not goodbye, but a "see you later"....
                           Victoria...... I am trusting your in our Mommy's arms now..... please catch up! Hugs lots, hold hands, sing and laugh together..... It's your turn with Mom now.... Have a great time in paradise until we are all together again. I love you both so much!
                          As two songs you sang to us all the time will be in my mind and heart forever, and when I sing them, or hear them, I will smile as they will always remind me of you! Because YOU Mom will always be my "Sunshine"! Even when the skies are grey! I hope you heard me sing this song to you in your last few hours.... I feel that you did as it calmed you, and got a slight squeeze as our hands were holding.... 
                        And the second one you sang to us every night at bed time.... ;

I miss you my darling sister. It is hard to know you are no longer here. You are at peace and in no more pain. I have fond memories tucked safely away in my heart. I will smile when I think of you. I send you all my love everyday.

My love and sympathy to all who love Kathy so much.  Kathy and I spent a lot of time in our younger days talking about our kids and a lot of talking about books as we both loved to read.
