Born June 26, 1954. Slipped away October 1, 2013 at the age of 59. Much loved husband and life partner of Patricia for 34 years. A very proud father of Thom and Aarron (Colleen). Close friends and “pint partner” of John Burry (Lynn), Jon Eddington (Jeanne), Nicholas Offord (Jutta), Doug Reid (Kate Greenaway), Frank Tiefenback (Robin Seif) and Martin Trainor; philosopher and co-collaborator Grant Timms (Patt); “coffee buddy” of David Windram, Edythe Gerrard and Shirley Bonnet. If there was an epitaph for Chris it would say “I’m still at the inquisitive stage”. I think everyone who knew him would understand. A “shout out” to his mother-in-law Ann Thornton and aunt, Margaret Melanson -- two very, very special people in his life. NO FLOWERS PLEASE. In memory of Chris, donations to the Palliative Care Centre at Princess Margaret Hospital or Gilda’s Club of Greater Toronto would be a grand gesture. These folks are awesome people who do one of the toughest jobs in the world, with grace, compassion and dignity. Many, many, deep heartfelt thanks to his palliative care team Dr. Julia Ridley and Malka Berman, RN. To his fantastic care team at the end – Erin Duggin (his primary nurse), Dr. Yin Fong, Dr. Mak and Nurses Andrea and Anne (and niece nurse Jen) – hugs all around. A special thank you to Dr. David Tannenbaum of Mount Sinai Hospital, Chris’s GP, support and friend for 25 years. A visitation and memorial will be held on Saturday, October 12 at Giffen-Mack Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave., 416.698.3121.
