
Lovingly remembered for his wisdom, humour, and tenderness by his wife, Elisabeth; his children Barbara, Andrew, Stephen and Valerie; his daughters-in-law Nienke and Clare; his grandchildren Nick, Emma, Mira, Isaac, Caitlyn, Cameron, Thomas and James; his brother John, niece Ann and nephew Paul; and many more relatives, friends, colleagues and students in Canada, the UK, Austria and the United States.
David grew up in Cornwall (England) and made Oxford his base for study and teaching before moving to Canada in 1966 to join the School of Hygiene at the University of Toronto. David taught many generations of public health students at U of T and served as Chair of the Graduate Department of Community Health. He retired as Professor Emeritus in 1992 to pursue his own research interests and keep tabs with Elisabeth on their growing number of grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at the Church of St Leonard, Wanless Avenue, Toronto on Tuesday June 16th at 1pm.
