Born in Kanpur, India to Lawrence & Lillian Sharp (nee Catterall), Duncan was raised in Jamaica and attended Munro College for Boys. He received his architectural education from McGill University and the Brixton School of Building, and was a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and The Jamaica Institute of Architects.
Duncan met and married his sweetheart Joan in London, England and returned to Jamaica to raise their sons. As an architect, he designed many schools, homes, and buildings, including the Canadian High Commission in Kingston.
After immigrating to Canada in the late 1970s, Duncan & Joan returned to their beloved Jamaica in 1990, residing in Montego Bay, where he continued his architectural practice. He was active in his community and a proud member of the Rotary Club of Montego Bay. While serving as Rotary president, he succeeded in advocating for the club’s inclusion and membership of women.
Duncan is survived by his younger brothers: Lawrence & Michael, as well as his sons & their spouses: Christopher(Jane), Dominic(Jerry), Jonathan(Tannis), and his devoted grandchildren: Maia, Isaiah, Jason, Nalo, Sumi, & Mina. He is forever loved and cherished.
Always his home, Duncan's remains will return to Jamaica where he will forever lay with his dear Joan. May he rest in peace with the Jamaica sun and sea.
