Our family is heartbroken to announce the passing of our Dad (and Paka) in the early hours of February 9, 2023 at Providence Healthcare.
Dad was a tremendously strong man who enchanted all that he came into contact with- everybody loved Ed and Ed loved everybody. It didn’t matter who you were or where you came from you could always count on Ed as a friend. Dad was responsible for the building of Toronto- all of it according to him. As an Ironworker (Local 721), Ed worked on projects all across Canada; in every province, including way up high on the CN Tower. Dad was extremely proud of his accomplishments.
Ed’s most treasured accomplishment was that of his family, he loved us all with his whole heart and soul. Dad often said “we may not have a lot, but we always have fun.” We most certainly did Dad- thank you.
Ed is finally reunited with his loving dance partner Ethel (2014). Quite often and spontaneously our small kitchen became a dance floor for Mum and Dad if the right song came on and the mood struck them, which it usually did.
Ed will be forever loved and missed by his children Rosalind, Edmund, John, Cathy and Sandra. Grandchildren Amalia, Oliver, Nigel, Siobhan, Mackenzie, and great-grandchildren Wren and Rosheen.
You’ll never know how much I miss you, you’ll never know how much I care. And if I tried I still couldn’t hide my love for you. You ought to know for haven’t I told you so a million or more times!
To honour Ed our family would appreciate a charitable donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Toronto.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.giffenmackdanforth.com for the Tierney family.
