It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eugenio Chiappetta on April 2, 2026, in his 90th year. He was the beloved husband to Concetta (nee Bruno) and the devoted father of Emilio (Teresa), Rosa (David) and Fabio (Misty). Eugenio was the immensely proud and adoring grandfather to Allessia (Joseph), Brian, and Eugene, all of whom were the lights of his life.
Born in Cosenza, Italy, Eugenio followed his heart across the Atlantic to join his future bride, Concetta. Immigrating to Toronto in 1967, they wed and began a journey that would span nearly 60 years - a life built on sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to family.
An outdoorsman, Eugenio found peace and adventure across the vast landscapes of Ontario. At home, he was a master gardener. He took immense joy in the harvest, generously sharing the bounty of his labor with family and neighbours alike.
Every Sunday, he loyally followed his beloved Juventus as they pursued the scudetto. His passion for the "beautiful game" was enthusiastically passed down to his sons and grandchildren.
At home you would find him at the head of the table, enjoying a home-cooked meal and recounting spirited, often humorous tales of his youth in post-war Italy. Through these stories, he taught the importance of hard work, the weight of one’s word, and the value of education.
Eugenio was predeceased by his sisters, Ida, Redentina, and Maria. He is survived by his brothers, Mario and Michele, and will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Eugenio’s legacy lives on in the family he built and the character he instilled in those he loved. His family takes solace in knowing he remains their guardian angel, watching over them with the same quiet strength he showed throughout his life.
