Eva Di Rito was born on February 15, 1935, in the small town of Alanno, in the Abruzzo Region of Italy, Province of Pescara. After a courageous battle with dementia, God quietly called upon her. Eva passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on October 2, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at the age of 90 years.
Eva was a constant and shining light in the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her passing has carved a void in the hearts of her family and friends and many others who knew her. Eva selflessly dedicated her whole life’s purpose to her family by creating a home full of love, support, compassion, and joy.
One of Eva’s greatest joys was tending to and nurturing her garden from which she harvested almost every variety of fruits and vegetables, including her famous tomatoes which she happily shared with every person who visited her home. Eva was also an outstanding cook and brought the flavors of Italy to her home. Whether it was a simple meal or a feast during the holidays, you could always tell when Eva was making any one of her delicious dishes by just following your nose to her kitchen.
Eva is reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband and best friend Donato Di Rito (passed away in 2016), her parents Anna and Pasquale Fasciani, her sister Giannina (Guido) and her brother Tito (Angela).
Loving mother of Tony, Anna Maria (Roman) and John (Carmela). Beloved Nonna of Jennifer, Jessica, Daniel, Vanessa, Michael, Matthew, Anthony, Nicholas and cherished Bisnonna of Jonathan and James.
She will be dearly missed by her siblings; Remo (Domenica), Ruggiero (Lydia) as well as her nieces, nephews and their families. Eva will be loved, cherished and forever remembered by her family and friends not for the way her life ended, but for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who knew her.
The family would like to extend a very warm thank you to the wonderful team of doctors and nurses at Baycrest Hospital. The family also extends a heartfelt thank you to the PSW’s for all their compassion and care Eva received at her home.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations in Memory of Eva Di Rito be made to the Alzheimer Society.
