Mr. Florentin Ion Cruceanu

Florentin passed away peacefully at Perram House, in Toronto on September 23, 2010, at the age of 50. In the past year, he had a long and exhausting battle with his advanced form of kidney cancer, found in 2007. He tried several medications without result, but never lost the hope.

Florentin's life was shaped by his strong interest in Physics, in how things work. He wanted to become a physicist since grade 6 and he succeeded. He studies Physics in Bucharest (Romania), Altanta (Georgia, USA), and Worcester (Massachusetts, USA). He wrote his PhD dissertation and defended it between his surgeries.

He was a faithful, hardworking, supportive, and reliable husband and father. He jumped to help his friends or students and asked for nothing in return. He worked in many teams and made sure that things were done precisely and well. He taught others how to improve their lives, and how to solve a lot of problems by themselves in an econimical way. He knew a lot about many fields and loved sharing this with others.

Florentin was a very energetic person who also loved watching classic movies. He always laughed or looked for laughs, spoke loudly, discussed politics, economics, philosophy or science, and was usually the centre of discussion.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Margareta, who was his classmate and lab teammate throughout university, his two daughters, Ana and Cristiana, his mother, Cristina, and his brothers Razvan, Mihai, and Catalin.

Family and friends may express their sympathy at Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home & Chapel at 467 Sherbourne Street (south of Wellesley) in Toronto, on Sunday September 26, 2010 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.

The funeral service will be held in the Coach House Chapel of the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home on Monday, September 27, 2010 at 1 p.m. The burial will be on Monday at Beechwood Cemetery, north of Toronto (7421 Jane Street).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to support the research aiming to cure Kidney cancer, a symptomless, very aggressive yet underfunded type of cancer.
