

Fredrick Stephen McKay, born September 26, 1953 in Stellarton Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully, with his family never leaving his side. He is leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering generosity.
Fred was predeceased by his beloved mother Lillian and his dear sister Patricia. He is survived by his cherished sister Andrea, brother in Law Gary Stewart, his loving wife and partner of 55 years, and their two sons, Russell (Andrea) and Trevor (Nicole), who were the pride of his life. Fred was immensely proud of the men they became—kind, hardworking, and devoted fathers themselves. His guidance, humor, and steady presence helped shape the strong and loving family they built together.
Fred was blessed to share a remarkable 55-year journey with his wife, who was his constant source of love, strength, and support. Together they weathered life’s challenges with grace and built a life filled with laughter, compassion, and deep connection. His unwavering devotion was the foundation of their family, and their bond remains an inspiration to all who knew them.
He was a proud and devoted Papa to Megan, Adriane, Caitlyn, RJ, and Chloe, who brought endless joy to his life with a hug, a story or a silly joke. He was a guiding light and a source of endless love, he adored them beyond words.
Uncle Fred/Freddy also had a special place in the hearts of his many nieces and nephews from Toronto to Nova Scotia who he shared countless laughs and unforgettable memories with and who adored him dearly.
A true pillar of the Narcotics Anonymous (NA) community, Freddy shared his story with honesty and heart, offering hope and strength to countless individuals on their path to recovery. His impact was immeasurable, and his compassion touched everyone who had the privilege to know him.
Fred will be remembered for his warm sense of humor, his genuine spirit, and his boundless generosity. He had a rare gift for making people feel seen, heard, and loved. To know him was to love him, and his absence will be deeply felt by many.
His family takes comfort in knowing that his legacy will live on in the hearts of all those he helped and inspired throughout his life. And his Story will live on forever.
A visitation for Frederick will be held Tuesday, April 22, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, April 23, 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5. A reception will take place following the service in the funeral home lounge.
