Gaven Anthonie Ford was the first son born to Emily and Hemrick on Saturday, August 15th, 1959. He grew up living a happy carefree life with his parents, sisters and extended family in Resource, South Manchester on the sunny island of Jamaica. He went to school and church, helped his parents and took care of his younger sisters.
Gaven immigrated to Canada January 6th, 1976 where he continued his education, and joined the work force. Gaven was an ambitious and conscientious young man. He completed post secondary studies, joined the Canadian Armed Forces and was discharged because of a heart condition.
Gaven had a deep love for people, food, and music. He had a unique ability to bring joy and laughter to all those around him. He was kind, loving, and gentle. Gaven was also a natural peacemaker and a loyal friend to many. To all who knew him, not only as Gaven, but also as “Solgie”, we can all agree that he was definitely one of a kind and truly "a legend."
Early Tuesday morning, January 14th, 2025 Gaven was called into eternal rest.
He leaves behind his daughters, Natasha (Venice), Latisha, Tanika (Ruth) and Mariah (Monique). His grandchildren Christian and Sa’nye.
