Glenice was the daughter of Major Garnet Walters and Annie Gertrude Crowther, and sister to the late Billie (2000) and Doris (1934). She was the beloved wife of Ross Frederick Callender, whom she met when she was 15 years old while playing handball at Earl Grey School, and later married on August 6th, 1949 at Donlands United Church. She was a loving mother to Stephen Gregory, Dale Roberts, and David Ross, mother-in-law to Jessica Steiner, devoted grandmother to Quinn Emerson and Emrick Ross, sister-in-law to Alan Callender (the late Jackie), Arlene Callender (the late Jack), and faithful friend to Ann Kowal, and Pat and Oliver Reilly.
Glenice was a fierce and faithful mother to her sons, who she bore the diligent guidance since her late husband was sick in 1977, preceding his death in 1982.
In the times of her youth, Glenice never completed high school but went onto work at Crown Life Insurance beginning at age 16 years, then onto Colgate Palmolive for over 25 years, Toronto General Hospital ER and a foster parent for CAS for over 15 years. She spent years of passion helping and working at Bolton Summer Camp, Illahee Lodge Seniors Program, Swallowdale Camp, and Maple Leaf Gardens/Air Canada Centre. She shared her work ethic, passion and presence also doing her part time jobs at Simpsons Gift Wrapping, security at Trade Shows, and over 10 years at Earl Grey Sr. Public School Lunch Room Supervisor.
Her favourite flower was the Talisman Rose, colours of orange and yellow, and she was a rabid fan of Tommy Hunter and Ronnie Prophet. She was also a fierce Bingo player, and a master at Cribbage, Euchre, Rummy and Poker. She enjoyed a great line and square dance, and loved Checkers, Yahtzee, and swimming.
