Gloria June Ramsay-Hall

Gloria June Ramsay-Hall. Born March 19, 1928 - April 18, 2023, passed away to Heaven at her home, leaving behind a loving community of friends and family. Beloved wife of the late Edward James Hall, loving daughter of Euretha and GA Ramsay, sister to the late George, Keith, mother to Leslie, grandmother to Sojourner and Kourtney, aunt to Arthur, Gary, Christopher, Angela, Margaret, and many, niece and in-law to many; Gloria was a jovial, steady friend to Jaime, Jackie, Bob, the late Olivia, Elizabeth, and many, many more who will miss her deeply. Gloria has left her mark on the world in historic fashion, as the first nurse from Barbados to ever work in Canada, coming to the country by 1954 and dedicating 14 working years to Mount Sinai Hospital and eventually Riverdale (now Bridgepoint) by the 70s. Gloria June was a fun-loving woman, enjoying nightlife and jazz in downtown Toronto’s prime, and eventually meeting her handsome Edward and retiring into a creative life of Playthings N’ Crafts, her ceramics company, by the 80s. She loved: travel, God, animals, wildlife, gardening, wholesome company, reading, the arts, creating, fashion, film, music, laughing, singing, dreaming, playing games, and living in the City of Scarborough. Gloria will be forever remembered for her class, grace, charm, intelligence, sharp wit, generosity, smile, and kind, romantic heart. There is so much that can be said about our dear Gloria, and if you knew her well enough, may you keep her memory warm in your heart for us all. Following the service at Christ Church Scarborough Village, Gloria will finally be resting peacefully with her dear Eddie Boy at Pine Hills Cemetery after 26 years adrift. Memorial donations may be made to The Scott Mission and/or Christ Church Scarborough.

The visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home (660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough ON, M1K 2B5) on Friday, April 28, 2023 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.

Gloria’s Funeral Service will be held at Christ Church Scarborough Village (155 Markham Road, Scarborough ON, M1M 3A1) on Saturday, April 29, 2023 at 11:00 am. A short visitation will begin at 10:00 am.

Following the service at Christ Church Scarborough Village, Gloria will finally be resting peacefully with her dear Eddie Boy at Pine Hills Cemetery after 26 years adrift. The Interment will be held at Pine Hill Cemetery (625 Birchmount Road, Scarborough ON, M1K 1R1).

A reception in the upper hall of Christ Church will commence after the Interment.
