Gordon William Schmidt

Passed away suddenly and peacefully at home on May 4th, 2012, in his 87th year. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and step Dad. He is survived by his cherished wife Gail Palkeinen, son Jon and his partner Jane, grandsons Jordon and Jeremy, daughter Anne her husband John Hannah, grandchildren Carrie, Amey and Ryan, and great grandson Julien and his step children Maija and Kai Palkeinen. Predeceased by his daughter Margo (1970) and his loving first wife Carol (1983). Gordon graduated as a Professional Engineer, Class of ’49, University of Toronto. Most of his career was spent with The Austin Company as Vice President and Manager out of Cleveland and Toronto. Gordon was an active Craigleith Ski Club member since 1980 and will be remembered as the “Craigleith Popoorazzi” for his many photographic contributions at social events. A Private family service was held at the Trull “North Toronto” Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 2704 Yonge St. A Celebration of Gordon’s life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Sunnybrook Hospital Foundation.
