Born in Marville, France on December 6th, 1961, Greg fondly remembered his childhood spent in Cold Lake, AB, and Toronto, ON. Together with his father Del, late mother Pat, and sister Leslie, he moved to Portage La Prairie, and later to Winnipeg, MB. There he spent many of his favourite summers with his grandmother, Cora.
At 19, Greg joined the Canadian Forces. In 1982 he was posted to Kingston, ON, where he met his beloved wife Laurie, and many life-long friends. Greg and Laurie built their life together, settling in Toronto and raising their daughters Aerin and Madeline. It was here that Greg was able to build important relationships with those who shared his passions for music, hockey, cuisine, and our neighbourhood. He was grateful to those who so generously supported him on his journey to more than 11 years of sobriety.
Greg had a varied career in the food & hospitality industry and retired in 2025 - without telling his wife. He had since been relishing his time playing music, cooking, building model airplanes, riding his bike, collecting HotWheels, laying on the couch, sitting in the sunshine with his cat, and being the center of attention.
Greg was a bright soul who easily connected with everyone he met. He will be remembered for his unconventional sense of humor, wild storytelling, kindness, and being so unapologetically himself. He will be deeply missed by his family and many friends. A celebration of life is being organized, to share our memories, and reflect on the wonderful life Greg not only lived, but shared, with the many who were fortunate to know him. Details to be posted at a later date.
