Lloyd. Shauna, Patti:   Debbie and I send our deepest sympathies to each of you on the liss of your father.  I fondly remember meeting your father many years ago when I first arrived on the scene of the Fuller family.  I fondly remember the many times your parents asked us to come and stay with you guys when they were off on their business trips.  We had so much fun.   Your mom gave Debbie a cooking recipe for Lasagna which she still uses to this day and comments this was Mrs Murray’s.  Cheerish the memories if your parents

Al, in the view of many of us, was the top notch sales force leader in Canada through the 1980s and early 1990s. His ability to critique and coach a Sales Manager, in minutes, on what he/she needed to do to get their team performing better in his Operations Reviews was legendary.  The delivery with wit and humour made it entertaining as well.  He along with Dave McCamus enabled all of us at Xerox Canada to prosper.

That was only part of it.  He was so good at identifying people with potential and developing them to be better.  Those of us around him more frequently learned by observing.  In effect, all of us got better.

What really set Al apart was the time spent with him whether one on one or in a group.  His character, loyalty, competitive spirit made all the hard work fun and rewarding.  Great memories from President's Clubs and other incentive trips abound.

At the same time, Al's family was his top priority.  He and Gayle were true partners.

All in all, an absolute one of kind legend.  The best to Shauna, Patty, Lloyd and the grandkids.

Al was an inspiring leader with a unique and appealing sense of humour.  It was such a great pleasure to meet with him at the group lunches in Thornbury and Collingwood over the past 14 years.   He will be very fondly remembered by many.

My deepest condolences to Shauna, Lloyd, Patty and family. Your Dad played an enormous part in shaping the lives of others, myself included. He was held in such reverence, not just because of the way he held us to account but because he freely shared his insights and wisdom in a manner that helped us grow as individuals. He once told me that my only job as a Sales Manager was to "develop people",  because if I did that, they would do the rest. When I left Xerox to open a dealership with a competitor, most felt I'd committed the ultimate act of betryal. When Al and I reconnected after he retired, he was incredibly open, warm and generous with his thoughts, encouraging me again just as he had many years before. When I moved to Thornbury six years ago, our periodic lunches with retired Xeroids provided great memories and banter. He had nicknames for all of us of course and while we were there in friendship and graditude, he was also there, recognizing part of his life's work. 

May he rest in peace knowing he did his job magnificently,  "developing people".

So sorry to hear about this. 

Alan was a top bloke. He was my mum's second cousin and me and my mum went to Canada twice in the 90's and Alan and Gayle put us up both times in Oakville. 

Each time they took us to visit some beautiful places and we could tell how much love they had for Canada and Alan for Xerox where he worked.

I hope all their children are OK and I really do wish you all well.

What a Man and what a Mentor.
I was fortunate enough as a young man to be hired by Xerox after graduating from the U of Alberta in 1977. 
Al was in a Senoir role at the company and his legendary status was well established and even though I worked in B. C. where everyone was “sleepy”. Al always had time for a  kid from Bonnie Doon.
He was Tough, Fair, Consistent and Caring.
I appreciate even today how much impact he had on helping me realize my potential .

Big Al  ; The best ever graduate of the University of Forest Heights ;go get ‘em on your next journey , You will have a terrific impact as you did on you earthly one.

Al Murray was a legend to many Xeroids: his vision and influence on the business in his own inimitable direct style, but above all, his integrity and his loyalty to his people, guided many of us in our own careers. Al encouraged his people on to success year after year, and they were rewarded with truly outstanding events hosted by Senior Management including Presidents Club & High Flyers, which I was privileged to organize. Both Gayle & Al were always wonderful hosts, but learning Al’s variable golfing rules was always a mystery, especially when it came to the payout!
So many stories! So many memories for a lifetime were created with these events for so many!
Deepest condolences to Lloyd, Shauna, Patty and your families. Your father was a unique personality for sure, who will be greatly missed, and never forgotten.

Al was one of my colleagues at Xerox Canada for 25 years. We first met in 1966 in Calgary where he was a Sales Manager. A few years later, we worked together at the Toronto Branch and then again for many years as part of the senior management team.
At every stage of his career, Al’s ability to identify and develop talented people was his hallmark. Many of them rose to prominent leadership roles in the following years.
Al certainly made a significant contribution to building Xerox Canada.
My sincerest condolences to the family.

My sincere condolences ! I was and continue to be a benefactor of Al’s wisdom and guidance not only during my tenure at Xerox in Edmonton/Western Canadian roles but also during my post Xerox tenure with other companies.

 Al’s example in both business and life transcended across all aspects of life for me and I am and will always be appreciative and blessed for the times I had with Al. When Al visited Edmonton we always found some time to head to Northlands Park to watch and wager on the ponies and I’ll never forget the several bets we had on the Edmonton Oilers during their several runs in the Stanley Cup
playoffs ….. collecting on those bets was another matter 😂

You will be missed Al…..But never forgotten !!

My condolences to your families.  Lloyd, Shauna, and Patty ... your mom and dad were good people and good friends.  I remember many Presidents clubs with them.  Dawn and I have fond memories of the all the times we spent together.
 He was a great mentor to many Xeroids.  He gave me my early opportunity in my career at Xerox.  He watched out for many years afterwords.  Always good counsel. He challenged and expected the best out of everyone.  His unique style was legendary.  Our small group met with him annually out of respect and gratitude.  He could zing you like no one else.  He reserved that for the people he liked.
Truly one of a kind.
He will be remembered for many years.

I worked for Xerox Canada as a Sales  Manager when Al was Senior Vice Président  . He was very tough and demanding and knew the business thoroughly and I found him  very fair and of high integrity. Condolences to his entire family and friends .

Al Murray held an iconic place in Xerox Canada history. He served the company very well and advanced so many careers of so many at Xerox including myself.
Al was my first Branch Manager and  helped me advance my career over decades.
He and Gayle were so much fun and my wife Sharon and I travelled the world with them celebrating great sales successes.
 Sharon and I pass along our most sincere sympathies to the family and please know that you have much to proud of with your dear Dad who is now lovingly back playing tennis with your dear Mom.
God bless them both as I know he has.
