Headley Bent Jr.

His sudden passing has left a void in the hearts of many family members and friends. Headley/Andrew was an extraordinary father to Ethan Bent and Avery Bent; a loving husband to Tamara Foster Bent; a devoted son to Margaret Bent and the late Headley Bent Sr; a great brother to Robert Bent, Raymond Goulbourne and Carolyn Goulbourne; a wonderful uncle to his 8 nieces and nephews; a huge inspiration to his nephew, Justin Warren, with whom he shared a special bond; a remarkable brother-in-law to Denzel (J.R.) Carnegie and Jessica Carnegie; and a phenomenal family treasure to a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Headley was born in Montreal, Quebec and lived on the South Shore for the first 25 years of his life. Andrew was a smart intellectual and a sports aficionado. In high school he was part of the Talented and Gifted program and he played basketball, soccer and hockey. He received a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Concordia University where he was also a member of the university’s track team. He went on to earn a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Lewis University in the United States where he attended on a full track scholarship. Andrew was an All-Canadian and All-American athlete earning many track accolades during his university years.

His accomplishments were many and varied but his greatest ones were his children, Ethan and Avery. He was daddy extraordinaire. He loved them fiercely and they in turn love him passionately. He was larger than life in their eyes and he was very much involved in everything they did, whether taking them to their many extra-curricular activities like Muay Thai, swimming, tennis, gymnastics, coding, to name a few, or being a member of their school’s parents’ council. Avery, at 6 years old, is a budding artist. Her father created an Instagram page so that he could proudly share her talent with the world. Ethan, at 9 years old, has a YouTube channel, also created by his dad. During the pandemic he posted videos assisted by his father, explaining things that children could do to not get bored because of the stay-at-home restrictions.

Headley/Andrew will always be remembered and will live forever in the hearts of his many friends and family members. Definitely gone too soon.
