‘Fair Sailing’ was his byline. James Edward Belfrage, proud Dad, husband, psychologist, and sailor, finished his last race on April 15, 2024.
Born in 1946 in San Francisco, James emigrated to Canada, earning a PhD in Clinical Psychology (York). He was focused in healthcare and education and took pride in supporting others. An accomplished natural athlete, he was a lifelong member of the Toronto sailing community and a great grand master of the laser racing fleet.
He lived for his family and loved ones. James is survived by his sons Aiden and Ryan Belfrage, of whom he was very proud, and wife, Terry Comeau. We recognize his beloved family members Jessie (Jeff) Gaynor of San Francisco, Nadia Belfrage of Comox, Kevin Comeau of Fredericton, Maryelaine Welbourn of Peterborough and Patricia Colton (Paul Kurdiak) of Toronto and their respective families. He was predeceased by father James Belfrage Sr., mother Helen Belfrage (nee Laplace) of San Francisco, and brother Lawrence Belfrage of Comox BC.
