It has been very sad news to hear about Jean's death. I will always remenber her as a great friend and will cherish spetially the beautifull times we had at the balletwhile I worked there as concert mistress. She was a talented musician but above all the greatest human being. My love to her for ever.

Jean's passing marks the end of an era at The National Ballet of Canada. She devoted nearly her entire professional career to the company, and I know that the musicians, her colleagues and all of us who had the privilege of knowing her are the better for it.  She will be remembered with great affection and will be deeply missed.

Jeanie was my Dad's best friend. She was our sister our auntie and our friend. We loved her deeply. We let life get in the way and have only seen her occasionally and had crazy late night reminberences on the phone. I miss her dreadfully already. It seems like a light went out somewhere. Jean was such an important friend to me during all those years (25) that I danced  with The National Ballet - and even more, with wonderful help and guidance for years afterwards. Her knowledge of music, was exhaustive and as I embarked on my second career as a producer/director starting with arts performance programs for the CBC, she was always there for me giving access to music scores and helping me to locate just the right piece for a given project. The most amazing memory I have, is when we created together the narration orchestral scores for my re-telling of The Nutcracker. We spent countless hours, selecting from the complete ballet and marrying the text from my book (which Toller Cranston had illustrated). We had fun, and laughs, and beautiful creative exchanges - this project took months and I cherished every minute. Jean was a very special person, absolutely dedicated to her art. I will miss her as I know, will her fellow artists and loving family and friends. Condolences to Jean's family.My first association with Jean was with the National Youth Orchestra in 1964. She was principle flute and ending of Night on Bald Mountain still brings shivers and so it was when we met again in the National Ballet Orchestra a few years later. She was a wonderful musician and a great touring buddy. Her career is a testament to her courage and professionalism. I will miss her sense of humour, loyalty and strength of character. Lynne Milnes

My condolences to Jean's family.  Jean and I met at the National Ballet 38 years ago and over the years I had the great privilege of enjoying her warm friendship, generosity and humour. During the years I also witnessed Jean's indomitable spirit as she demonstrated grace and fortitude while battling personal adversity.  I will miss her.

It was a pleasure and privilege to know Jean.  She was the consummate professional and was so kind and helpful to me when I started my playing career in the ballet orchestra, something for which I am forever grateful.

Jean was such a great help to me when I was just getting started in music in Toronto. She was full of fun and humour and tough as nails too.

Condolences to the family.  I worked with Jean for over 20 years at The National Ballet of Canada and admired her commitment to the art form, loyalty to the company and her astute and clever wit.

Although it has been more than 50 years since graduating from Eastwood Collegiate, those of us who shared classes and music with Jean will always remember her fondly. She was a gifted musician and a truly gentle friend.

Jean & I had lots of laughs over the last 3 years as the youngest in Bradgate Arms. We both loved ballet, but she was the expert - -and had the best stories. I will miss her chuckle and friendship

Jean was one of my good friends as we went through high school at Eastwood Collegiate in Kitchener.  I stI'll have the clipping from the K-W Record when she was accepted into the National Youth Orchestra in 1963.  We were so proud of her.  I think I only saw Jean twice after high school, but I have treasured memories, especially of her sense of humour.  My condolences to friends and family.  Libby (Uttley) Wheeler

Early in my career I played 2nd flute to Jean.  I always admired how down to earth she was, and will be forever grateful to her for helping me get a start in the business.  She was a strong and unique person. My condolences to the family.

Jean will be missed by our family, and we will always cherish memories of the times we spent with her.

Jean you will be missed. My moments with this warm, welcoming lady were very few but hearing that her physical essence is no longer present, brings sadness - her bright smile and mellow tone remain when I think of her. sorry to hear of Jean's death.I met Jean when I was about 16 years old, through my aunt Victoria Richards,her dear friend.I have fond memories of Jean's  thoughtfulness and her dry humour,now that I am 65.My deepest condolences .
