Joan was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, choir director, organist, Anglican priest, and cherished member of her community.
Born on May 31, 1933, in Toronto, Ontario, Joan's life was one dedicated to service, faith, and nurturing others.
She made an indelible impact on everyone she encountered, whether as a primary school teacher inspiring young minds, a choir director whose music brought people together, or an organist whose skill and devotion filled the church with beauty.
Joan was a pillar of the Toronto Diocese Anglican Church of Canada, where she served as a mentor and friend to countless individuals, offering wisdom, guidance, and compassion.
Joan was married to Bart Waters, and after his passing, she found love again with Robert Garner. She was deeply loved by her four sons, Dave (Isabel), Bryan (Karen), Mark (Susie), and Matt (Sandy), and her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Michael, Matthew, Stephanie, Richard, Chelsea, Adrienne, and Christopher, as well as her 12 great-grandchildren.
Her warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and faith will never be forgotten. Joan’s legacy lives on through the many lives she touched and the lessons she shared. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A memorial service will be held in Joan’s memory, on July 3, 2025 at 1PM at St. Nicholas Birch Cliff Anglican Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Toronto Diocese Anglican Church of Canada in her honor.
