It is with tremendous sadness that we announce the passing of Judith Anne (Judie) Wellman. She was born on October 19, 1941, the daughter of the late David and Clodagh Urquhart. She was predeceased by her brother John Urquhart and her daughter Marie Wellman.
The pulse of her family, Judie will be missed by her loving husband John, son William (Bill), sister Mary Lou Ingham and her late husband Joe (deceased 2019). She admired their son James Ingham, his wife Robin, and their children Bryden, Joel, and Quinn.
Her absence leaves a great void in our hearts. Judie touched so many around her through her involvement in Scouts Canada as a young woman, and later for many years with the 2nd Highland Creek organization.
Judie always had a crafty nature and for several years turned one of her talents into a small out of home cake-decorating business. This was followed by a couple of years as Senior Secretary at Watson Publishing.
Her true calling came when she joined Charlottetown Public School in pursuit of her Early Childhood Education Certificate. Once she earned her certificate, she spent almost 10 years at Dearham Wood Daycare. She was adored by the children and well-respected by her colleagues.
After finding her first pet cat, Jasper, in a dumpster shortly after getting married, Judie was surrounded by pets (cats, dogs, fish, parrots) for the remainder of her life. She was the owner of a Canadian Kennel Club Championship Siberian Husky (Taffie). She was so involved with animals that later in life she became the administrator of several online groups created to exchange tips and advice about pets. She made many friends through these groups.
As a hobbyist, she had a great flair for photography. There are countless printed photo albums in her collection, and then along came digital photos—several storage devices full of them.
Judie and John loved to travel, beginning with tents and eventually graduating to a 30’ motorhome. They were proud to have visited every Canadian province, missing only Newfoundland. The thrill of a lifetime was the trip they took in their motorhome all the way to Alaska.
The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers. Our cup runneth over with the support we’ve received during this difficult time. Judie will now rest in peace with her beloved chihuahua Towbe by her side.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to SickKids Hospital in Toronto would be greatly appreciated.
A visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Homes, located at 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON, M1K 2B5, on December 4, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
The funeral service will take place at the same location on December 5, 2025, from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm.
