Kathleen Philomena Ang

ANG, R.N., KATHLEEN PHILOMENA (nee TWOMEY) - Kathleen (Cáiteen) passed away peacefully in her 87th year on August 20, 2024. Dearly loved by her son Paul Ang (Pam Ryan) and predeceased by her husband, Dr. Percy (Phaik Lim) Ang, brothers Paddy, Seán (Nora), Matt and sister Maura. She will be missed by sister-in-law Mary (Paddy) and sister-in-law Mary (Matt), brother-in-law Dr. Lee Ang (Elaine) and dear family friend, James Riordan. She is survived by nieces Mary Patricia, Catherine, Maura, Katie and Emma, and nephews John, Damien, John, Michael, Michael and Karl. She is also survived by grandnieces, grandnephews, relations and friends in Ireland, Malaysia and Canada. Kathleen was born in Gorthlahard, Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry, Ireland; one of the five children of Mary (O’Connor) from Waterville and John Twomey from Gorthlahard. An adventurous, independent, and brave woman, Kathleen left the farm to earn her registered nurse with midwifery certification and worked in hospitals in San Antonio, Texas and in London, UK before moving to Toronto in 1968 to raise her son. She served her nursing career in Canada at the former Riverdale Hospital. The family wishes to pay a sincere thanks to the staff at Copernicus Lodge for their dedicated care and attention. A private family service will take place in Ireland at a future date. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Kathleen are asked to donate to the Registered Nurses’ Foundation of Ontario.
