My first and best memories of Ms. Powell was way back when we were "the Jamaica Players". Sometimes when I called for Kevin and he wasn't around Ms. Powell and I would chat for at least half an hour about life, or any random topics, she was always very encouraging. We used to meet at Kevin's place for rehearsals and Ms. Powell was our only audience; her laughter and ever so often side satirical comments still echoes in my mind; and warms my heart with a smile. The camaraderie between her and Kevin was equally hilarious at times; in fact we could just put them on stage in a mother and son act and you wouldn't be able to stop laughing...it was clear back then how proud she was of Kevin, and that pride beamed from her smile and her laughter...just as much as the beam from the "Star Angel" will follow you everywhere you go from now on my dear friend Kevin...Now we share an even tighter bond, as I too lost my dear grandmother on January 17th (years ago). Do take it from one who knows...it does get better. May God bless you and your family at this special time and always... to sound the voice of the late Miss Lou "Awe-ya-yieee" walk good Ms. Powell, walk good.
Your forever friend,
Sandra Witter aka "Sandy"

To Kevin and family,
It was an honour to meet such a blessed soul. Mamma Powell (mi namesake) in our brief meet and greet sessions.
She will always be remembered for ensuring her family knows the values in sharing love to the world she left behind ( at least through Kevin for sure)
May she sleep in eternal peace as we carry on with our memories and fun experiences she shared with us here in Toronto.
Sleep in Peace my dear, Mamma Lissett until we meet again. Your amazing life here will be an example of what our New Generation will follow as a result of the numerous challenges facing us today.

Kevin and family,
I am honoured and blessed to have known Miss Powell and I will miss her. Remembering her wonderful soul will forever remain in my heart.
May god put her in a special place where she will be watching us all and that fond memories of her bring you comfort.
