Lucia Amodio was born on December 13, 1921, in celebration of the patron Saints name St. Lucia's day. Her home town was San Vito Sul Ionio, Catanzaro, Italy. Lucia was one of eight siblings, 4 brothers and 3 sisters...
She was married the love of her life our dad Vincenzo Amodio. In 1950 she immigrated to Argentina where she joined her husband who had gone there two years before. In 1953 her daughter Yolanda was born in Argentina and they tried to make a life for themselves there. However at the time, Argentina's economy was very poor. They decided to immigrate to Canada in 1959 to join the rest of their family. After settling in Canada, finding work proved to be very difficult for them. But with all the adversities that they faced, our mom Lucia always had a smile on her face and looked at life with a positive attitude. She never let any obstacles get in the way of their happiness and life for their family. In 1965 they welcomed the birth of their second child. A boy, Pino and at that point their life was complete... Life was simple but they found joy and love in their family and friends. Spending time together on weekends with her brothers and sisters, was a testament of their love for one another and the importance of family.
Lucia's a devout Catholic. Her first love was Jesus Christ and the church. With that same passion and dedication she loved her children and grandchildren fiercely. Lucia found comfort and peace when tending to her garden of vegetables and flowers. She loved her flowers and tended to them like children.
On April 5, 2023 God called her home. Lucia passed peacefully at the beautiful age of 101 surrounded by her loving family. She is now in God's beautiful garden reunited with her husband, brothers and sisters, and mother and father; Celebrating the return home to God. The day Lucia left us she left a void in our hearts that are now filled with memories. We look forward to the day when we can all be reunited together again.
Lucia leaves behind her daughter Yolanda and her husband Joe, her son Pino with his wife Linda. She is the cherished Nonna of Venessa, Stefano, Olivia, and Selena. She will be dearly missed by her sister Teresa Macri and her sister-in-law Rosa Polera, and also by the many nieces and nephews and their families who Lucia's life touched.
Lucia will forever be remembered and missed by all of her family and friends. Forever in our hearts, till we meet again...
