Maria Celenza

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Maria Celenza. Maria passed away peacefully on August 15, 2024. Maria was born on April 17,1933 in Vasto, Cheti, Italy to parents Giovanni and Grazia Sputore. Maria is reunited with her beloved husband of 40 years Nicola Celenza, her infant son Gianfranco and her siblings, Nicola, Anna and Luigi.

Loving and cherished mother to Liborio Celenza (Carol), Natia Tucci (Nick) and Rita Campitelli (Peter). Beloved Nonna to Maria Christina (James), Domenic (Linda), Nicholas (Francesca), Amanda (Mark), Stephanie (Donald) Laura (Nicholas) and Sara (Zach). She will be forever guardian angel to her great grandchildren Julianna, Lily, Catherine, Sara, Nicholas, Thomas, Henry, Sevilla, Naomi and Charlotte.

Her warm and inviting smile drew everyone in around her. She loved to tell stories and hear those of others. She loved to keep busy and spent countless hours creating beautiful clothes and cooking for her family. Maria will be remembered for her strong faith, warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family. Her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on through the generations she has touched. She will be missed by her many friends, family, relatives and all who knew her. The family would like to thank all for their love and support in their time of need. For those who wish to make donations in Maria’s memory they can be made to the Humber River Hospital 12th Floor East where she was cared for in the final weeks of her life.
