Maria Luthgarda Lertvilai

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Maria Luthgarda (Luth) Lertvilai who left us peacefully on March 19, 2025, at the age of 76. Luth was born in Alaminos, Laguna, Philippines, on March 15, 1949, and her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

In her early twenties, Luth packed two suitcases and bravely ventured to Canada from the Philippines on her own with her sole connection in this new country being one of her sisters. A woman of indomitable spirit, she navigated life’s challenges with grace and in so doing taught her children resilience and the power of a mother’s love.

A fashion maven, her penchant for animal print clothing, gold and glitter endured throughout her lifetime. Luth loved music and dancing. Naturally outgoing, people were drawn to her vivacious nature and even the shyest of individuals could be coaxed on to the dance floor. Spring and summer meant Luth could be found tending to her garden which boasted beautiful blooms that her and her neighbours shared with one another.

Luth was loved beyond measure by her family. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Michelle Stinson and husband Henry Stinson and granddaughter Astrid; youngest daughter, Jessica Lertvilai and husband David Bracegirdle and grandson Montgomery; and her sisters Monserrat Natividad, Lourdes Medina, Melanie Medina and Cecilia Faraldo, as well as numerous extended family members and friends who will miss her dearly. Luth’s memory will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Visitation will be held on Thursday March 27 from 5-9pm at the Jerrett Funeral Home- St. Clair Chapel, 1141 St. Clair Ave. W. Funeral mass to celebrate Luthgarda’s life is on Friday March 28, at 11am at St. Clare Church, 1118 St. Clair Ave. W. Burial to follow at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 7300 Hwy 27, Woodbridge.

Rest in peace, Luth. You will forever remain in our hearts.
