Marie O’Connor (nee Gilbride) died peacefully on June 17, 2016 at the age of 84 surrounded by family at St Michael’s Hospital in Toronto. Marie was the beloved wife of Tom O’Connor (deceased), and mother of Jane (Vancouver) and Blair. Marie was the oldest of 10 siblings, Kevin, Ann, Vincent (deceased), Joseph (deceased), Nora, John, Michael, David and Margaret (Macklin).
Born in Toronto in 1932 to immigrant parents, James Gilbride and Bridget Collins. She volunteered with the Girl Guides of Canada, became a teacher, then a wife, mother, businesswoman, and farmer. Marie was committed to her community and was actively involved in her parish church, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, and Mayfair. Marie volunteered at St Michael’s Hospital for 29 years.
