To the Brutto family, this hit me so hard. I am broken by this news, and I cannot imagine how all of you must feel. I am so sorry for your loss. Mario was a bright light on a dark day, a kind word and a smile just when you needed it. He made this world a better place and I am glad that I knew him. I am sorry to say that I hadn't seen much of Mario over the past little while as I've been away from work, but I was just thinking of him recently and was going to ask about him. Seeing him at work, even just to wave or say hello, made my day better.  Thank you for sharing him with us.

Dear Serafino, Luigina and family,

I was deeply saddened to learn of Mario’s passing today. Growing up on Lansdowne Avenue, I was privileged to get to know Mario as a teenager. Over the years, we developed a great friendship and in many ways, I saw him as my older brother. I have so many wonderful memories of playing soccer, hockey, baseball, football, bocce, the keep up challenge, video games and board games with Mario and all the Brutto family. 

We were the ultimate ball hockey players in my opinion, as who else played 3-3 or 4-4 hockey directly in front of the Brutto house, while dodging the Lansdowne Bus and taking slap shots from the middle of the street. The one thing me, Luca, Ralph, Roberto, Michael, Nuno, Steven, Daniel and Johnathan knew, is that when you had Mario on your team, you had the best chance of winning because he always gave 110%. 

Mario taught me the importance of team sports and his feedback playing alongside him, made me better but most importantly we had fun. He was a great role model and I realize as we got older we slowly drifted apart, but when I saw him 2 years ago, it felt as if time had never passed at all. It is extremely difficult to accept that Mario is no longer with us anymore, but I know that he fought his hardest and gave everything to fight back. I will remember all of these incredible memories.

I will sorely miss Mario popping into the Press Clippings Service early mornings. He was one of our only visitors, and one who always made me smile.  I had many engaging conversations with him, on politics, economics, philosophy and life.  He was so thoughtful, and funny, too! He could tell a tale like no one else. His hunting stories would make this city dweller laugh so hard! He was a kind and friendly man, who I am glad to have known. My sincere condolences to his family and friends. Rest in peace, my friend. Queen's Park is not quite the same without you.

My thoughts are with the Brutto family during this difficult time.  When we crossed paths at work, we always had a quick chat about his hunting trips, sports or casino strategies.  I will always cherish those conversations with Mario.

I can't believe you are gone!  My deepest sympathy to your loved ones.  I will miss our talks about money, politics and hunting.  I always looked forward to our chats whenever we crossed paths.  Your mind was sharp and loved our engaging conversations.  I  miss the laughs we shared at assembly.  I am still at loss at the news, but I know you went out fighting.  I could tell that by our conversations that you fought  hard to get what you wanted in life.  This should not have been your fate but I guess God has bigger plan for you  and needs you in heaven.  Rest assured one day we will meet up again on the other side and again talk and share a few laughs.

Our friendship started around 28 yrs ago and like any great friendship it started by him telling me if I slash him one more time he’s gotta kick my ass while we were playing hockey hahahah .

He was the greatest friend anyone can ever ask for he was truly one of the greats he always knew what to say when u needed him or he was the first one to call me out on my bull 
He had such great passion  for the things he believes in and he will be truly missed ….. if it is not run right in heaven  he will make it happen he was trust that type of guy

I'll really miss you Mario - our talks of things that are, our chats about money - oh how we both love old money and shiny coins and stories of where it all started and where it's all going... you had a brilliant mind dear friend - I could listen to you talk for hours.
I don't know how you always remained upbeat and positive. But you did.  And you did it with a smile.
