I met MaryEllen in junior high school Zion Heights Junior High School many years ago and just thought she was the most amazing and best looking girl around. We had a few dances at the grade 9 prom and instantly knew she was a special person. Wow so sad to hear this as I celebrate my youngest daughters birthday today..My condolences to her family.

I went to high school with MaryEllen.  She was in my class.  She was the most popular girl in the school.  It's so hard to believe she's gone. I just found out about Mary Ellen's untimely passing a few days ago, and was both shocked and saddened to hear the news. We met in grade 10 at A.Y. Jackson S.S. The next 3yrs were filled with laughter and good times. I will always remember hanging out in the caf with the gang, and will never forget her smile or quick wit. We drifted apart after high school, then reconnecting for a short time in our mid 20s, once again more laughs and good times. I often thought of her and how she was doing. My thoughts are with her family and close friends at this difficult time.

Mary Ellen, we first met about 1965. my parents bought the house across the road. You and i along with Craig Wallace and my cousin Doug had many adventures on Sawley and along Warlock. You became my best friend and confidant. 15 years together at Zion and A.Y. Jackson sealed you in my heart as a true friend. I regret having lost touch with you. I am deeply saddened at your passing, and grieve for those you have left behind. Warren.

Wow just heard about Maryellen today, and have fond memories of her, I remember the Zion Junior Highschool in North York where we both attented  Grad night grade 9 where we tripped the light fantastic. Such a beautiful caring person my heart goes out to her family.

My son attends St. Mikes and Will is in his two of his classes. He was so concerned for Will, as I suppose only another 9th grade young man can know what it must feel like to lose your Mother at such a delicate age. Our thoughts and sincere prayers go out to Will and your family at such an incredibly difficult time. As a Mother, it is a very real and much needed reminder that each moment is not to be taken for granted and should be cherished.

MaryEllen was a high school friend.  We lost touch and I haven't seen her since, but she is still in my thoughts and I always hoped that we'd meet again.  She was a beautiful and sensitive young woman when I last saw her, and wish that I had known her as a mom and wife.  May the light that she brought into the world continue in her loving friends and family.  She will be sadly missed, by all those who had the pleasure of calling her friend.

I was very sad to learn that Maryellen has passed away.  I have very fond memories of attending Snowcrest school with her.  I remember her sweetness even today. I sent a message earlier today, but have subsequently discovered a photograph of Mary Ellen in grade four at Snowcrest Public School.  I was her classmate.  I thought I would share it as her family and friends should see how cute she was, at any age.  She is in the second row from the back, third from the right.

My heart goes out to Mary Ellen's Family. I realize there are no words that can comfort you at this devastating time. I do know that Mary Ellen's memory will remain to continue to brighten the hearts of many just as her presence always did with her ever lasting smile.

Mary Ellen was a friend in junior high and high school - she was easily the prettiest and the most popular - two superlatives that rarely go together in one person.  But she always had a smile for everyone.  During a ski trip in Quebec in junior high I roomed with Mary Ellen and another friend and I learned what a lovely, funny girl she was and how much she enjoyed being goofy.  My sincerest condolences go out to her children and family. Know you will carry her in your hearts forever.

MaryEllen you touched everyone's life around you with your sweetness, kindness and generosity and even though I knew you for such a short while, I looked so forward to coming in to work because you were such a joy to be with.  Just looking around for you on the subway to chat to and razzing with you through the day at Gowlings made my day.  You were always so interested in everyone's life.   I will miss you so very much. I was very sad to read of the passing of Mary Ellen.  It has been a lifetime since I have seen or spoken to her, but 'back in the day' at Snowcrest Public School, we were inseparable.  It was at the time when you walked to and from school together (even at lunch time), spent every minute of every recess together, went over to each other's houses after school, and had sleepovers.  I guess it was the first days of the 'best friends forever' concept. I always thought it was pretty cool that my mom would let me have my favourite lunch of peanut butter and jam sandwiches every day.  That is until I heard Mary Ellen's mom made her peanut butter and fluffernutter! I just had to have it too.  I spent lots of time at the Fowler's house on Sawley Drive and remember her mom and dad as being soft spoken and always welcoming.  I am sure Mary Ellen has passed that on to her children.  Thank goodness a piece of her will live on in them.  My condolences to the entire Lyons and Fowler families.

I am going to miss the wonderful smell of your perfume, your search for the perfect red lipstick and envying your beautiful legs :) I am going to miss looking at the pictures Meghan drew of you and her, both wearing princess dresses and tiaras and walking hand in hand, I am going to miss hearing about how proud you are of Will and what a handsome strong young man he was growing into, I will miss hearing about your special date nights with your husband and your planned trip to France ... but most of all I will miss your soothing voice, your gentle nature and your kindness. I know you are up in heaven today drinking some great french red wine and talking fashion with Coco Chanel, but  selfishly I wish you were still here with us. We will all miss you until we meet again...

     Even though we never met, MaryEllen was so thoughtful and kind as to send a beautiful little butterfly toy to my daughter when she was born eight and a half years ago.  That cute little butterfly rattle was Tayler's (my daughter)  favorite toy for the first three years of her life.  It comforted her when we were in the car, and it travelled with us everywhere.  I kept that toy.  Now, I will cherish that toy forever, because it will remind me of MaryEllen and her loving kindess.

MaryEllen was a true lady who was able to see the humour in all situations and who, despite the whirlwind of activity surrounding her always remained calm and gracious.
