

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Matthew Lawrence McAuley. Matthew is survived by his parents Jake and Brenda and two younger Brothers, Jordan and Joey, his Grandmother Jackie, his Uncle Boone and Aunt Karen, Uncle Tullio, Uncle Bob and Aunt Bev, Aunt Jackie and many Dear cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his Grandfather Lawrence Fortier, his Grandparents Mac and Doris McAuley, his Uncle Kenny and Aunts Cheryl and Faye.
Matthew joined the Canadian armed forces army reserves in 2000 and served with distinction for 15 years. He served as a Peace Keeper in Bosnia-Herzegovina and was involved with several military adventure races including representing Canada in a patrolling competition in Wales. Matthew was an active part of the 2nd Battalion the Irish Regiment of Canada and later finished his service as a Sergeant in the Paratrooper platoon of the Queen’s Own Rifles in Toronto.
After graduating from Laurentian University with an Honours degree in Political Science, Matthew moved to Toronto to pursue a career in film and music. He worked on projects spanning commercials, television and movies and wrote several entertaining witty songs. At the time of his passing he was working as a Medical Lab Technician in hospitals around the world and was editing an Independent movie that he wrote and directed.
A Celebration of life will be held at a later time.
