Zio Olindo will be greatly missed. Wonderful memories of family picnics at Wasaga Beach. And enjoyed viewing his wonderful paintings, an inspiration.

Dear Frank and Franca, 
Sincere Condolences to you and your family on the loss of your dear dad, may he Rest In Peace. I remember meeting your dad at my work office on Eglinton Avenue when Frank would come in to work on our phone lines, he seemed a very attentive and happy person. I’m sorry that I couldn’t make it to the viewing and funeral mass however wanted to wish you both my sincere condolences for your loss. Hugs to both of you.

Caro zio Olindo, resterai sempre nei nostri cuori con il ricordo della tua gentilezza e affettuoso rispetto per la tua cara sorella maggiore Linda, col cognato Bepi, nostra mamma e nostro papà, e tutti noi tuoi nipoti. Non posso dimenticare   l'ultima tua visita a casa nostra a Bassano, tanti anni fa, quando mi confidasti che sarebbe stata l'ultima volta, per non avere  il dolore della separazione... Ma sicuramente la tua vita è stata meravigliosa consacrata dall'amore per la tua famiglia! Grazie per l'esempio che ci lasci! Cari cugini Frank e Franca, Liliana e marito: vi siamo vicini con il pensiero e la preghiera: un grande abbraccio da Maria Rosa e Armando. 

The Artist Uncle.
I spent little time with Uncle Olindo but I remember that he had a different character from his 12 brothers and sisters. He was a meek, calm, patient, calm, reserved person, he thought before speaking, he avoided discussions, walked on tiptoe as if he did not want to disturb and it was his uncle who stood out for his artistic talent. He made himself available when I asked him for an opinion and he also gave me a hand by helping me in a manual work when he came to Italy for the funeral of his grandmother Maria: every time I look at our masterpiece I remember it with a lot of respect and affection. I remember how fond he was of Italy, like all Italians who emigrated abroad: only those who meet an emigrant abroad can understand his attachment to the country of origin. I remember his tears of emotion when he made me listen to the records of Italian songs and the choirs of the Alpini in his basement in Toronto. But above all I remember his paintings and the paintings he took out from all corners of the house, next to the washing machine, behind a piece of furniture, inside a wardrobe, everywhere. A postcard was enough to reproduce a landscape, a still life, the corner of a canal in Venice detailed with flowers on the balconies, with mold on the walls near the water, with the reflection of light on the water. As of the monuments of Rome, Pisa and other cities. I remember your affection for Aunt Gianna and I was sorry to see him without her by his side, but I also saw his closeness and his love for his children Franco and Liliana. And I do not forget the proud grandfather Olindo who pulled a cart with his little grandchildren Andrew and Natalie, who are no longer small today. Rest in peace.

Oh how the heart aches.  May Olindo RIP and may his family find peace in greatful memories to survive the sorrow.
My too little times spent with Olindo were always special, light conversation mostly gardening and other pleasantries, which always left me with warmth.

Lo Zio Artista.
Ho passato poco tempo insieme allo Zio Olindo ma ricordo che aveva un carattere diverso dai suoi 12
fratelli e sorelle.
Era persona mite, calmo, paziente, pacato, riservato, pensava prima di parlare, evitava le discussioni,
camminava in punta di piedi come se non volesse disturbare ed era lo zio che si distingueva per la sua
predisposizione artistica.
Si rendeva disponibile quando gli chiedevo un parere e mi ha anche dato una mano aiutandomi in un
lavoro manuale quando venne in Italia in occasione del funerale della nonna Maria: tutte le volte che
guardo il nostro capolavoro lo ricordo con tanto rispetto ed affetto.
Ricordo quanto era affezionato all’Italia, come tutti gli Italiani emigrati all’estero:
solo chi incontra un emigrante all’estero riesce a capire questo suo attaccamento al paese di origine.
Ricordo le sue lacrime di commozione quando mi faceva ascoltare i dischi delle canzoni Italiane e dei cori
degli Alpini nel suo scantinato a Toronto.
Ma soprattutto ricordo i suoi quadri e i dipinti che tirava fuori dai tutti gli angoli della casa, di fianco alla
lavatrice, dietro un mobile, dentro un armadio, ovunque.
Gli bastava una cartolina per riprodurre un paesaggio, una natura morta, l’angolo di un canale di Venezia
particolareggiato coi fiori sui balconi, con la muffa sui muri vicino all’acqua, col riflesso della luce sull’acqua.
Come dei monumenti di Roma, Pisa e di altre città.
Ricordo il tuo affetto per la Zia Gianna e mi dispiaceva vederlo senza Lei al suo fianco, ma vedevo anche la
sua vicinanza e il suo amore per Franco e Liliana.
E non dimentico il nonno Olindo orgoglioso che tirava il carretto con sopra i piccoli Andrew e Natalie che
oggi non sono più piccoli.
Riposa in Pace.

We are very sorry and saddened to hear of the news of his passing. Olindo was such a gentleman and so kind and patient with everyone, especially the children. We will never forget him in our prayers.
