Panagiota Maragos

She passed away peacefully on September 17th, 2025, in Toronto. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Panagiotis Maragos and their three children: Steve Maragos (Rita), Sonia Maragos, Jim Maragos (Helen); her eight grandchildren: Peter Maragos, Patricia Maragos (Chris), Dina Maragos, Alex Beik, Abraham Beik, Adam Beik, Peter James Maragos, and Kristina Maragos; her two great-grandchildren: Donell McKenzie and Kamari McKenzie; her brother Andrea Theofilakos (Soula); her nephews/niece: Taki Theofilakos (Fanny) and their children, Stratis Theofilakos, and Haroula (Dimitri) and their children.

She was born in Logastra Greece and was predeceased by her parents Efstratios and Hariklia Theofilakos, and her twin brother Dimitri Theofilakos.She married Pangiotis who was also from the same village Lagastra. They lived happily in their hometown for 15 years before deciding to embark on a new adventure moving to Canada. Soon after that, they operated a family restaurant in Shakespeare, Ontario for 20 years. They retired in Toronto and spent many years travelling back and forth from their home in Canada to their home in Greece.

Panagiota was the pillar of her family. She was an extremely dedicated wife, incredible mother, fun loving grandmother and dear friend. She was known for her gracious charm, her Spartan strength, sense of humour, professional seamstress skills, love of fashion, and her most beautiful trait -a beautiful singing voice. Her love for gardening never went unnoticed. She especially enjoyed big family dinners and sharing her stories of the past.

Her absence leaves an aching void in our hearts, but her spirit lives on in the cherished memories we hold dear forever.

A visitation for Panagiota will be held Sunday, September 21, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Jerrett Funeral Homes, 660 Kennedy Road, Toronto, ON M1K2B5.

A funeral service will occur Monday, September 22, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 30 Thorncliffe Park Dr, Toronto, ON M4H 1H8.

A burial service will occur Monday, September 22, 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd, Toronto, ON M1K 1R1.
