

If anyone ever cared, really cared for someone else it would have to be Mr. Phillip Allen Doucette also known to his family as Peewee and Uncle Pinwheel. He was a warm hearted and well liked individual, and these wonderful traits came easily to him because he was such a sociable and amiable person, someone who was always making certain that those around him had whatever they needed.
Phil was born in the Old Grace Maternity Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was the son of Kathleen (Harrison) and Joseph Doucette. Phil was raised in Urbania, Nova Scotia. He found it easy to show sympathy and to perform kind acts for others. These admirable qualities would become a part of Phil's personality throughout his life.
He came from a large family with Seven Sisters and Eight brothers which Kathleen Dunlap (Donnie), Violet Simon, Diana Doucette (Owen), Edna Goodall (Leighton), Annette Farewell (Robert), Rose Doucette (Jonathan); brothers, Arthur and Joseph Doucette. As well as those no longer with us: infant brother, Richard; brothers, Harold, Cyril, Wilfred and Joe Doucette; and sister, Christina Nickerson. Phil and his siblings had the typical rivalries while growing up, but they cared deeply for one another.
He seemed to be able to start a project and work right through to its completion, quickly and efficiently. Phil was very observant and was generally quick at picking up new things. He enjoyed some courses more than others, his favorite class in high school was Industrial Arts.
He could talk to anybody this quality is one of the primary reasons that Phil was such a popular person throughout his life. Phil was also dependable, loyal and trustworthy. Phil was the kind of person who simply radiated good fellowship. While he maintained personal standards and his own personal values, Phil was very accepting of others. With a distinct skill for working things out. When Phil made friends, he made true and lasting friendships. While growing up, some of his best friends were his neighbors the Brimacombes. Chris Holoboff, Joe Gustin, Cheryl, Chris & Sam, Cesar & Rosie, Chef, Sonia, Gary, Lilly, Patrick, Victor were some of his best friends throughout his adult life in Toronto.
Phil was a faithful and loving person. Some would even call him sentimental and a romantic at heart. His kindness and consideration radiated an aura of warmth to those around him. Phil cared for what others thought and carried that into his past and future relationships. Phil was compassionate and devoted, and around 1990 he met June McCracken and they continued to be committed to each other, in their own way, up until his passing on June 10th, 2020 with June and Tanya by his side.
Harmony was important to Phil and he made every effort to maintain it within his family. Phil was blessed with one child Tanya and two step children Victor and Jennifer. He was reasonable and understanding. Which made him conscience of others feelings.
Taking his work seriously came naturally to Phil, and he expected the same from those around him. Phil was a good team player, someone who was born to cooperate with others. He was what some would call a “people person” and it was demonstrated in his good communication skills. Phil was a steady worker. The kind of details that would give family members and work colleagues fits were situations that Phil handled well. He could understand the details without getting lost in the “big picture.” Phil worked at numerous jobs and made friends through them all.
Phil enjoyed spending time on his favorite things pool, bingo, cycling and gardening. Phil was one of those people who took pride in constantly putting forth his best effort. Nowhere was that more visible than in sports. Phil was always enthusiastic and a great team player. Recreational sports included pool and billiards. Phil also liked being a sports fan and enjoyed following his favorite teams whenever he got the opportunity. Tops on his list were hockey (Montreal Canadians)and football. Throughout his later years, Phillip was an active member of the Weston pool club.
A generous and compassionate man. Though he never set out to gain individual recognition, Phil was recognized and given awards for his many and varied efforts throughout his life. He was awarded a certificate from The Lambton Golf and Country Club for 5 years of service.
Phil enjoyed spending time with June and her children by going on trips and vacations. He rarely tired of going back and revisiting his favorite places. Favorite vacations included camping and trips to Las Vegas.
Phil was a lover of animals and cherished his pets. One of his favorites was Gorgeous, a staffordshire terrier, a pet that he shared with June and Victor.
Phil was a fantastic conversationalist who could engage just about anyone in a discussion. And whenever he said something, he meant it. Phil was a down to earth person and outgoing. He was without question the type of person who enjoyed experiencing things first hand. What friends and family will remember him for most is the fact that he was so understanding and kind. Everyone whose life he touched will miss Mr. Phillip Allen Doucette.

Age 64, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2020 in St. Michael's Hospital with his partner/long-time friend, June McCracken and his daughter, Tanya Doucette, by his side. He was a son of the late Kathleen (Harrison) and Joseph Doucette. Phillip was raised in Urbainia, Nova Scotia and made Toronto, Ont., his home for the last 45 years. He is survived by his only child, daughter Tanya (Jack), his partner/long-time friend June and her children; Grand-daughter, Staci Buttle (Nick); and great-grandson, Oliver Jerome; sisters, Kathleen Dunlap (Donnie), Violet Simon, Diana Doucette (Owen), Edna Goodall (Leighton), Annette Farewell (Robert), Rose Doucette (Jonathan); brothers, Arthur and Joseph Doucette; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by both parents; infant brother, Richard; brothers, Harold, Cyril, Wilfred and Joe Doucette; and sister, Christina Nickerson.
A Memorial Visitation beginning at 10:00 AM on Friday June 26, 2020 will be followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM all from Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home and Chapel. For those unable to attend in person or due to current health regulations and restrictions a live-streamed service will be made available on the June 26, 2020, by liking the Rosar-Morrison Funeral Home Facebook business page, which will allow you the awesome opportunity to view the service as it is taking place!
