Raymond was born in Alleppo District, St. Mary, Jamaica. He came from humble beginnings and in a quest for a better life, he migrated to Canada in the summer of 1980 landing in Mississauga. He was a hard-working man and was determined to do better for himself and as such, soon moved to the City of Toronto for employment opportunities. Raymond had an impeccable work ethic and it was no surprise he quickly found gainful employment. He established himself in the big City, calling Toronto home, until his passing.
Raymond, is survived by his beloved wife, best friend, and confidant of 30 years, Mercedes (Merle), son Phillip, daughter Carol, sister Lurline, brother Elisha (Ruddy), grandchildren, and countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Raymond is pre-deceased by his parents James and Doris, sister Phibian (Dolly) and brother Granville (Sonny).
Raymond had an infectious laugh and once you heard it you couldn’t help but laugh yourself. He always had a parable to tell or a humorous point to make. Raymond also had a bit of a fire in him and didn’t hesitate to tell you like it was. He was also a philosopher in his own right, encouraging others to make the most of their lives and the opportunities they were given.
Raymond loved listening to country music and watching western movies. He could listen to the same songs and watch the same movies over and over, never growing bored. Raymond enjoyed exploring the Greater Toronto Area with Mercedes, where they would take day trips to the Beaches, Centre Island, the St. Lawrence Market, and other popular landmarks. He also loved taking his daily walks through the City and did so until his body would no longer allow him to do so.
Raymond was a man that took much pride in his appearance. He was always sharp, always clean shaven, and always well dressed. This is a trait he carried his entire life. Even at the end, he chuckled, saying “Me nuh look too bad. Mi look good fi me age.”.
Raymond is deeply and sadly missed, but his family takes comfort in knowing his spirit will live on in the hearts of all those he knew and loved.

~Psalm 73:26 “My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.”
Hymns:
Take My Hand Precious Lord
It Is Well With My Soul
Kindly note, that due to these unprecedented times of Covid-19, a private funeral will be held for Raymond, and at an appropriate time, when there are relaxed rules around social gatherings, the family will gather in a celebration of life. God Bless.
