Peacefully, after a long illness, Ray’s journey ended at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre on Saturday January 25, 2014. Loving and devoted husband to Olive and dear brother to Paulette Nicholson of Belleville, Ontario (Tom Sills) who was Ray’s primary caregiver over the last year of his life, Ray was predeceased by his sister Irene Larrabee (Larry Larrabee, also deceased) of West Yarmouth, Massachusetts and by his parents Bernadette and Octave (Jack) St-Sauveur. His many nieces, nephews and their extended families always gave him great joy.
Ray enjoyed a fulfilling retirement after a long and distinguished career as an audio technician at CBC Television. He built an extensive social network through his dedication to Man to Man and other prostate cancer support groups, Relay For Life and through his long-time friendship with Bill W. Ray treasured summers at Clear Lake but it was when he made his first trip to Mexico in the 1960’s that it became his true passion. He travelled frequently to Acapulco, Puerto Escondido, San Miguel de Allende and many other parts of the country over his lifetime. He was fluent in Spanish, he embraced Mexican culture, music, art and cuisine and he brought many of his Mexican friends to visit and stay with him at his home in Toronto.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Clements Church (Duplex Avenue at Briar Hill) in Toronto in late March or early April. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to any charitable cancer organization in Canada. On line condolences may be made at www.trullfuneralsyonge.com.
