Predeceased by her beloved husband Giuseppe in 2018.
Dear mother of Sal (Anna) and Connie (Nick). Proud nonna of Michael (Michelle), Christina (William), Joseph, Peter and Mary. Doting bisnonna of Luca and Julia. Faithful sister of Silvana (Renato), Francesco (Rita) and Carmine (Maria) in Italy. Survived by adoring nephews, nieces, and cousins in Canada, the U.S. and Italy. Rita was predeceased by her parents Antonio and Angela and by her siblings Rosaria, Maria and Giuseppe in Italy.
Officially born in Celico, Cosenza, Italy on July 1, 1931, Rita spent her childhood and youth in the idyllic Sila region of Calabria where rustic village life prevailed. Her heart never left La Sila. In 1958, she bravely crossed the Atlantic and started a new life with her husband Giuseppe in Canada. Rita and Giuseppe both loved discovering Canada by train and took many trips up North, out West and down East. Rita cherished her years working on the assembly line of Faberge Canada where she rubbed shoulders with Farrah Fawcett and Cary Grant. During her retirement, Rita lovingly cared for her grandchildren and, with Giuseppe, enjoyed growing their large urban vegetable and fruit garden.
We will also be forever grateful for the care that was provided to her at Westside Long Term Care.
