It is with profound sadness and heartbreak that we announce the passing of our beloved sister Rosanna Mara Battistelli. Rosanna was an exceptional and loving daughter, sister, Zia, friend and colleague. She passed away in peace with family by her side after an arduous cancer at Sunnybrook Hospital in Toronto on February 13th at the young age of 66.
Rosanna is predeceased by her adoring and nurturing parents Aldo and Augusta of Sudbury Ontario. She leaves behind her siblings Flora (Domenico), David (Heidi Schoenherr), and Louisa. Joined in sorrow are Rosanna’s cherished nieces and nephews: Robert (Angele) Matteo, Andrew; Vivian (Trent) Elyssa, Julia; Michael; Davina (Zach) Clara; Marino (Yulia) and Brenner.
Born in Sudbury she began her career in law enforcement. By nature she was valiant, dutiful, always willing to give, serve and protect others. It was also the beginning of a lifetime of caring and enduring friendships. A genuine soul, fun loving and with an open hearted ability to knit love and loyalty into everyone’s life. She was a wellspring of nurturing for her darling K9 companions Boots, Rocky, Max and her best in show Babyface bird.
She moved to Toronto in the 1990s working so hard, striving and enduring to find the path she was meant to follow. Fashion, travel, good food, and great wines were her passions and they grew to become her professional calling. Along her way she continued to bond and weave into her life a wider and wider circle of dear friends. The caring central operator in her networks both personal and professional she was always there for you. Charming, disarming, curious and kind. She made a mark on everyone she met. She also made her mark as a sterling professional in the wine and spirits industry at Noble Estates. A team player through and through an “OG” captain in her industry. She brought joy and enthusiasm to the job in her 12 years at Noble and it rewarded her with such enjoyment, world travel, global friendships, exceptional memories and experiences. For so many, and forever she will be the good spirited ‘reigning belle’ and the toast of this town. Salute!
A celebration of her life will be held at a future date when all her family and many friends can gather.
In lieu of flowers and in respect to all that she endured please consider a donation to Sunnybrook Hospital where she received exceptional care and empathy from all her doctors, nurses and staff.
