Shirley Jean Gertrude McCartney

Although our hearts are heavy, we are comforted to know that our Mother, Shirley Jean Gertrude McCartney (nee White) left to be with Dad on October 19, 2022. Mom was 91 years old. A loving and adoring wife of 61 years to Campbell. Mom was known for her love of music. Growing up she played piano, including at the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music. Music was always a part of her life. Engelbert to Bon Jovi, Rod Stewart and Broadway tunes were amongst her favourites and could always be heard playing in the background. Mother of Gaye, Kelly & Chris, Scott & Karen and Chris & Tina. Proud and devoted Grandmother of Tyler & Batool, Jaime & Cam, Joshua, Hunter, Ethan and Hayley. Sister of Mavis, Bette, Ollie and Bob (predeceased). Sister-in-law to Matt and Penny and Ann. Mom will be forever remembered by numerous nieces and nephews on the McCartney side, the 'Martin Girls' and their hubbies, Bob and Marilyn, extended family--including a lifetime of friendship of dear neighbours and friends. Mom will always be remembered for her kindness, and words of wisdom. She kept us smiling to the end reminiscing about all of the wonderful times in our lives. Our special thanks to the amazing staff at Craiglee Nursing Home over the past 18 years. There are so many to thank and we would like to specifically thank, Vekada, Messy, Angelina, Sophie, Celange, Barb, Cheavion, Katzumi, Ayesha, and of course Moises who brought her so much joy, just by walking in the room. We apologize for those we have missed as these are only a few, and there are so many. We thank you all. Your kindness was immeasurable. Lastly, Mom was lucky to have a wonderful friend and roommate in Stella. Your caring and kindness to mom was not unnoticed. Thank you.

In lieu of flowers/donations we would ask that you please "pay a kindness forward". A celebration of life will be announced in the near future.
