Uncle Vernon, on April 7th, 2021 the good Lord called you home four years now.

I will never forget, watching by video, and saying goodbye.

I miss our regular chats that sometimes lasted for hours.  I hear your voice still.

We had wonderful adventures together and I'm grateful for the memories you've left behind.

Receiving this message on the anniversary of the passing of a great friend, I find very coincidental. It was just last evening that my brother and I were reminiscing about Vern. My brother knew Vern due to my friendship with him. 
Vern, you are still missed old buddy.

Dear Uncle Vernon:

Today is the one year anniversary of your passing.

I'll never forget the night I spent with you when you went home to be with Jesus.

The loss is immeasurable but so is the love left behind.

Not a day goes by that you are not thought of.  

I will always hold you in my heart until the day we meet again.

Forever you remain.

I am one of the twins, Edith, who was born in 1952  who resided in the same home with him and was with him when he passed.  He was not alone.
I appreciate your kind words, as well.

This is an addition to my previous entry. The attached photo taken at Central Technical School, grade 10, 1954/55.  Vern is in the second row, third from the right. I am directly behind him.

Vern and I attended Central Technical School together in the 1950's.  After leaving school we remained friends. My wife and I would attend  the venues that he and the Revellaires performed whenever in Toronto. He also sent postcards to me whenever he was in some other country. As the years passed we lost contact with each other, although I tried hard to locate him.  Photos attached are one with my wife Lorraine and Vern at the Savarin Club, where he was performing.  Second photo is at Lorraine's and my 50th wedding Anniversary held at a club in Etobicoke. Vern's appearance was an arranged surprise for me.  I have missed Vern over the years. I happened on this obituary by chance while still searching for him.  Sad that I have now no chance of meeting up with him again. Rest in Peace my friend.

To my god father, my uncle Vern you will be dearly missed. I love you . I will always remember listening to you play the piano and grangrans house and the church. You will be truly missed.

A private service was held at the cemetary April 30th, 2021 with a memorial to be held at the church Uncle Vernon attended when it becomes safe to do so.

Vern and I were roommates during our University years. He was like an older brother to me when we were young. 
He had a demeanor and smile that endeared people to him. 
Even though we had lost touch over the years he was in my thoughts and stories often.   
My  sincere condolences to his family and friends

Your journey home with Jesus has been marked with other great people, such as, Prince Phillip, of England.   To me you will always be my Royal Uncle. 

The endless hours on the phone chatting and laughing with you echoes in my memory but, in reality, remains silent now. 

I will truly miss  your unique laugh, your love for family and friends, as well as music which will be cherished forever.  My weekend visits to see you in Windsor are fond memories enjoying life to the fullest. 

What an honour and
privilege it was to be allowed to pray with you and say goodbye, until we meet again. 

Nothing I can say will ever be able to  express the loss I feel but I know the good Lord has a plan for you.  

You left us with precious memories and you will, forever be, in our thoughts and heart. 

Two generations are gone now, with another link to the chain broken, but as God calls us home, one by one,  the chain will be made whole again. 

Rest in Paradise Uncle Vernon.

Uncle Vernon was a beautiful, loving, kind & caring man who was greatly loved by many especially by us. His love of family & music was a true gift.
We miss him everyday. We love you Uncle Vernon, until we meet again.

When I was a little girl growing up on Gamble Ave I attended many get togethers that uncle Vern attended and I have very found memories of him!  He was such a sweet and gentle man RIP uncle Vern 

To the Family and Friends of Vernon Baird I send my deepest condolence.I was greatly saddened by his passing.Vernon was my faithful Friend and Special Brother.A gifted and talented musician,from Jazz to Gospel He could play.In his early years he traveled with a Band across Canada and many parts in Europe.He was a  devoted member of Grant A.M.E. I fondly remember all the beautiful music Vernon created with our Richard Allen Choir. We sang, we laughed & shared friendships.  It was a precious time and will always be treasured. Rest in peace, my friend.
