Dear Grandma, it's your birthday, and so I've been thinking a lot about you today. It still feels strange that you're not here. Even though in the last couple years I wasn't able to go see you... it's an odd feeling knowing that I never will again, or that I can't just call and say a quick hello and happy birthday. I also want to thank you for being so loving to Paul. As soon as you met him 19 years ago, you instantly took him on as your own grandson. He loved you too. And, Nick, Noah, and Lucas will greatly miss the laughter and fun with their young spirited great-ma. Happy Birthday grandma! I hope you're enjoying the biggest, most ridiculously rich double chocolate cake in heaven today!

We love and miss you. ❤

I feel fortunate to have been able to watch the recording of the livestream and to get a glimpse of Vivia and her family. Condolences to all the branches of the James family from the Sturgeons. My father Ted was friends with Vivia and her sisters, and I had the privilege of a phone conversation with her about those days at Treasure Beach when Ted worked at the hotel. When Ted's mother, my grandmother Christine (Dicker) Sturgeon, visited Jamaica, she and Vivia became friends and painted together. After my one phone encounter with Vivia, whom I never got to meet in person, her words to me were "I love you."

Dear Mom,

You were born to a wonderful mother. Your father, however, had many problems. He made life for everyone in your family cruel and harsh. Despite your struggles, you grew into a confident, outgoing person, with a love for learning and art. You were a very social person, who walked through life befriending many people. When you lived with my family, you knew more neighbours than I ever did. Unlucky in love, you were destined to raise your two daughters alone. You worked hard to eke out a meagre living for us. With the support of your sisters, Tica and Myrrah, you raised us safely to adulthood. Your children and grandchildren had the opportunity to get the education that you could only dream of.

You became a devout Christian when I was just a baby. Your faith kept you strong. Your connection to the church helped you through many difficult times. I imagine that you feared that your misfortunes would be visited upon our lives. This made you a harsh disciplinarian at times. I understand this now. You and I spent a great deal of time together during the last few months of your life. You sensed that your health was failing and you asked me if you were dying. I answered honestly. You asked me to do certain things which I was able to accomplish.

Your message to every one of your family and friends was that you loved them all. As you and I spent more time together, we mended our fences. You were more honest and forthcoming during these visits than ever in our lives together. I truly enjoyed our time together. You were not afraid to die. You said that you were knocking on Heaven’s door. You said you felt the presence of God with you. During our final moments together, I reassured you that your family was doing well and that you could go. You did just that. It was difficult to be a witness to your death. However, I know in my heart that we all need a witness to our lives. Thank you for helping me and my family, Mom. We love you. May you rest in peace.

You loved us kids and we all want you to have a good time in heaven.

Please move on with your life.

We will never forget you.

All our family members, like Peter and Sandra, will never forget you.

You take the love of our whole family with you.

Our condolences and prayers for family and friends. What a beautiful and honouring service for Vivia. The song, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" could not be more perfect. Vivia knew the "secret" of taking our weaknesses to our Friend and Saviour, Jesus, in prayer. She shared this beautiful Truth with everyone she could. I feel her life said: "Come and meet this Friend who will carry you." What a beautiful legacy.. she inspires us today. Her life still speaks. May that Truth carry you whenever you remember her.
Praying for peace and comfort for all her loved ones.

Dearest Aunt Viv, you will be forever in my heart. You were my strong connection to the grandfather that I never knew, my dear grandpa Roland. Say hello to the man that gave me the best father a girl could ever ask for❤

I am saddened to learn of the passing of my dear Cous. Vivy.I have so many beautiful memories of her when we were young, and we remained close over the years. She had such a quiet, sweet, kind, humble personality that it was hard not to be drawn to her.She had such a love for the Lord and she showed it in word, thought and deed. When she entered a room, the first thing One usually sees is her beautiful smile.Due to health issues our phone calls became less, but my love for her has remained strong.Goodbye for now my dear Viv. We will meet again in Heaven
