

Wena Onasie Bourne also known as Joyce, age 89 of Toronto, Canada passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2019. She was born to the late William Conrade and Agatha Branche on May 10, 1930 in Georgetown Guyana.
Wena attended St. Barnabas School. She spent her career as a school teacher for young children in Guyana. She was an entrepreneur for many years at East Ruimveldt Secondary School where she sold nutritious meals and drinks for sale. Wena was always concerned about nutrition and eating correctly before it was popular in Guyana. She enjoyed sewing and spent much of her time making clothes for her family and things for her home. She sewed clothing and darned to make them last longer. She enjoyed working in her own kitchen garden and dried pumpkin seeds in the 70’s, before it was the cool thing to do.
Wena was hard working, not slothful. She was kind and caring although her home was small, she welcomed others to her home where she cooked and fed them. She had a community transportation bus which her son Peter helped her to operate, sometimes Wena was the conductor. Long before television was popular in Guyana, Wena enjoyed the finer things of life, she watched James Bond movies and Mike Tyson boxing on a large colored screen TV with VCR. Wena had the most beautiful hazel eyes, a lovely smile and defined laugh.
Wena Bourne served the Lord with gladness from her youth. Churches that Wena attended Princess Hall Church on Princess Street, Georgetown and Full Gospel international in Georgetown, Guyana. She was also a member of Christian Mission Church in Georgetown Guyana.
Wena was preceded in death by her loving husband Frederick Rudolph Ebenezer Bourne whom she married in the year 1946 and her son Paul Hugh Bourne. Her brothers Ashton Stephens and sister Mennen Parris.
Wena is survived by her six children:-
Her daughter Esther Douglas and husband Compton, grandchildren Andre, Martin and Doug and their wives and 9 great grandchildren.
Her daughter Ingrid Moseley and grandchildren Wendy and Andrew and his wife Edemae and six great grandchildren.
Her daughter Denise Otoo and grandson Alexander and two great grandchildren.
Her daughter Lucretia Robottom two grandchildren Harold and Shamane and one great grandchild.
Her son Peter Bourne, four grandchildren Martin, Tiffany, Tavis and LeBron and two great grandchildren.
And her daughter Joy Bourne.
Wena left one sister Sybil to mourn her loss, as well as cousins, several nephews and nieces and other relatives.
We will miss our mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grand mother, sister, cousin, aunt and friend. As we mourn, we will do so with hope. For we know that Wena loved and served the LORD. And to be absent in the body is to be present with the LORD. Jesus said in his father’s house are many mansions and I go to prepare a place for you, so that where I am you may be also. Wena Onasie (Joyce) Bourne nee Branche is alive in heaven, where there is no pain or sickness or death. She is walking on streets of gold and re-united with her loved ones, Amen and Hallelujah.
