Jack (Bill) was born William Lemmon in Sioux Lookout, Ontario on October 19, 1943. He was predeceased by his parents William and Ida, brothers Reg and Bob, and sister Jacqueline. Jack leaves behind his life-long companion Gordon Keith, brothers Richard (Vic), Ron (Patricia), sisters Connie (John) and Clara (Terry) and also Peggy (Reg) and Danny (Bob). Jack also leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews and their partners.
Jack left Sioux Lookout after completing grade 13 and spent time in London, England. Upon his return he attended Lakehead University in Thunder Bay. There he forged friendships that have lasted a lifetime and beyond. In Thunder Bay he wrote several plays and started his film career working on projects for the National Film Board. After moving to Toronto he continued working in film and was one of the producers of Track Two, which is a ground-breaking film documenting the Toronto police’s repressive raids on gay bath houses in 1981.
Before his retirement Jack and Gordon operated Before My Time, an antique store on Queen St. East. Jack loved the business.
Jack always had a great interest in current affairs and his very left leaning politics were never held back. He read voraciously novels and newspapers, and subjects on history and politics.
He will be greatly missed by all.
