Rob was loved by many. He was one of 6 children. His eldest brothers and sisters, Manuel, Victor, Adriana, Marina and his little brother Juan. He was born to Aurora Gonzales and Angel Roberto Tello on February 9, 1969 in Manzanillo, Colima, Mexico. He came to the U.S. at 9 years old. He grew up in Hawaiian Gardens with his family and friends. He was an amazing, outgoing man who was loved by many, especially his children, George, Kristianna, and Jesse, the mother of his children, Samantha, the many nieces, nephews and cousins, and his girlfriend, Cheryl and her daughter, Alyssa.
Rob enjoyed hanging out with family and friends. He was so proud of his family and their accomplishments, whether it was getting good grades or buying a house, he was always there to tell them how proud he was. He liked to buy a lot of project cars with great intentions of fixing them all up. It was almost like he had his own car lot at times. He was most fond of his bug, “Pumpkin”. He was a talented mechanic and helped many fix their cars. His best customer was Kristianna.
As most of you know, Rob was a big Cowboys fan and Dodgers fan. You would always see him sharply dressed representing his teams. “ Lookin’ good”, he would say. He also liked old western movies, especially the Clint Eastwood movies.
Rob came to know the Lord shortly after his health began to decline. Over the last 8 years, Rob struggled with health issues. He had a couple strokes and numerous heart attacks. He lost the function of his kidneys and had to go on dialysis. At one point he nearly lost his vision. Through it all, he continued to work and provided for his family. But never a dull moment for Rob…you would always see him smiling no matter what his circumstances were.
This last year specifically, his health began to decline even more. He would get better for a while…it was like a rollercoaster. He began going to Mexico for a stem cell treatment once or twice a month in effort to improve his kidney function. This last trip, on April 14th, Good Friday, he had crossed the border and while driving on the road in Mexico he suffered a heart attack. On this Good Friday, “Big Rob” went to be with the Lord.
