Ann (AKA Annie Bananie) was born on June 10, 1950, to Beryl Turner in Cardiff Wales, England and adopted by Beryl Turner’s husband, John Richards when Anne was 3-years old. She loved to reminisce about the trips she took with Mother and Father around town in his motor bike and side car. Growing up in the countryside of England, Ann had a fancy for flowers which led her to follow her passion and become a florist later in life. When she wasn’t spending time in the kitchen to help her mum cook, she was the appointed babysitter for her twin brothers, Darryn and Martin; A task she resented at the time although she loved them so very much.
On June 6, 1979, Anne married Steven Thomas Millings. They followed their passion for fashion and together they owned a clothing store for men called, Campus. But her true passion, pride and joy didn’t happen until 5 years later when she gave birth to her beautiful daughter, Charlette.
When Charlette was born, Annie decided to dedicate her life to being a caring, giving, loving mother. Annie would stop at nothing to make sure Charlette was always cared for, as it was her mission to support her through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Annie and Charlette shared an undeniable Mother/daughter/best-friend bond. Guess you could say “The Millings Girls” were inseparable. This mother/daughter duo were always there for each other, rain or shine! Whether it was working together at Fat Face Fenner’s Fishack, to attending gatherings together, to sharing friends. Charlette’s friends would often ask “How’s your mom?” before asking about Charlette. Ann was a beautiful soul that was easily loved. You see, Annie had a special way of getting people to open up to her almost immediately upon meeting her. She just had that empathetic, safe spirit about her.
Annie Bananie was a from-the-heart kind soul with a wise, quirky spirit. She had a keen sense of people and knew how to read the room. You couldn’t get much passed her. Which is why the like-minded were drawn to her right way. She had a soft spot for furry friends and a true love for her family. With an endless positive outlook on life, she had the strength to overcome whatever challenges that were put in her path. You can’t talk about Annie without mentioning her witty, snarky humor and the way her brutal honesty was always sprinkled with a touch of love. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in Hermosa Beach with friends filling the town with love and laughter. We will miss this beautiful lady for all the special ways she blessed us.
Annie was predeceased by Mother Beryl and Brothers Darryn and Martin Richards. She is survived by Daughter Charlette, Father John, Steve, Sandra, Cristopher, Oliver, Oscar, Annalice, Thomas, Jack and all of her friends who Ann considered Family.
The family requests that all flowers be sent day of service to 5310 Torrance Blvd, Torrance, CA 90503. There will be a Memorial and celebration of life at the listed address above January 20, 2024 at 11am and a celebration to follow from 12pm to 2pm.
