June 21, 1927 - November 29, 2006
Jacobsen, Arnold Albert, devoted husband, father, and grandfather passed away in the caring arms of his family on Wednesday, November 29, 2006. Jake and his wife Bonnie celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary in April. Born on June 21, 1927, in Lake Park, Iowa, and longtime resident of Carson, he will be remembered for his contagious laughter, his love of dancing and song, and desire to be near his family and friends. Jake loved watching the numerous hummingbirds that routinely visited his flower, berry and fruit gardens. He loved bowling with the senior league, travel, gardening, playing pinnocle, Angels baseball, his Model A, antique furniture restoration, household projects, and most of all being a father and grandfather to his 11 grandchildren. Jake was a retired meat cutter. Jake's wife passed away a week after their 57th wedding anniversary and is survived by his daughter Cindy (Jeff) Gray of Moreno Valley; daughter Denise (Pete) Bothe of Long Beach; daughter Robyn (Danny) Shatwell of Lakewood; son Marty (Kim) Jacobsen of LaPalma; and "adopted" daughter Suzanne Hoover-Lopez. A gathering of family and friends will be Monday, December 4th from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Rice Mortuary in Torrance. Private burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, Salvation Army, National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization, or Heifer International.
