Asta Gunhild Danryd

She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Lennart of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA, her son Rolf Danryd of Redondo Beach, CA, her daughter, Marie Rack of Scottsdale, AZ, 5 grandkids, and her sister Clara Wendel and many nieces and nephews in Sweden.

She is preceded in death by her father Anders Olsson, mother Ida Olsson, brothers Ragnar, Nils, Hilding and Oscar.

Born in the small town of Huarod, Sweden she grew up on her parent's dairy farm and married Lennart in 1949 on Mid-Summers Eve. Adventurous in earlier years they traveled frequently and together started a gliding club called Kristianstads Flying Club. After having two children the family moved from Malmo, Sweden to California so Lennart could pursue his career as an executive with Sweden's Pogens Family Bakery. Asta has been a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes for over 30 years where her and Lennart attended St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

Asta worked as a bookkeeper for her brother-in-laws grocery business and in later years enjoyed working in retail as well. Above all she was most passionate about her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, a generous mother and grandmother, sister and aunt. A loyal friend too many she will be very missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful homemaker and nothing brought her more happiness than preparing one of her special meals for her family or friends to enjoy.

Inurnment will be private. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, March 16th at 3:00 p.m. at the Norwegian Seamens Church located at 1035 S. Beacon Street, San Pedro, CA 90731

In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation in her name be made to St. Erik's Church, Inc., at the address listed above.
