Barbara Joan Barnes

"Barb", a resident of Redondo Beach for the past 49 years, passed away at home on Wednesday, December 15, 2010. Born in 1940, in London, England, Barbara was 70 when she left this Earth to join the Angels in Heaven. Some of Barbara's personal interests included attending lively parties, dancing the night away and laughing among her nearest, dearest family and friends. She also enjoyed trying her "Lady Luck" where she could be found in the casino playing the "Red, White and Blue" slot machines to her heart's content. But, by far, her favorite pastime was spending time with her three sons, enjoying good meals, fun times and being around her family and friends. She lived by the motto "Live, Laugh and Love". Barbara is survived by her three sons, Jeff Barnes and Dave Barnes (Wendy), both of Redondo Beach, CA and Mike Barnes (Jeannine) of Torrance, CA; two sisters Lorraine Guengerich and Michelle Hyduke, three grandchildren Brian, Marie and Nicole and great-grandchild, Sophia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Barnes and son, Tony Barnes, formally of Redondo Beach, CA. She is also preceded in death by her parents Reginald Kay and Olive Boorman. A graveside burial service will take place on Saturday, January 8, 2011 at 11:00 am at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes. In addition, a celebration of Barbara's life will take place immediately following the burial at the Barnes' family home in Redondo Beach. And such a party is exactly how she would have wanted it! Any flowers may be sent directly to the January 8th graveside service at Green Hills.
