Billy G. Lyons

Billy (Bill) was born in Waurika, OK on February 28, 1934 and passed away peacefully at home on March 24, 2013 after fighting a very courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was the son of William and Vesta Lyons, the eldest of 11 brothers and sisters. Bill lived in the South Bay most of his life, and is survived by his wife of 56 years Norma and their three daughters Roxanne (John) Arroues, Melodie (Richard) Contreras, and Lisa (Bob) Zain; his son Rocky (Linda) Lyons and daughter Brenda Lyons; his cherished grandchildren Misti, Jason, Lindsey, Matt, Shelby, Jack, Natalie and Charles; siblings, Jerry Lyons, LaDora Carpenter, Judy Leggett, Monte Lyons, Michael Lyons, and many other relatives.

Bill enjoyed an over 50-year career with Operating Engineers, and proudly served with the Marines.

Bill enjoyed a variety of activities over his long life including dirt biking, boating, fishing, playing the slots, ham radio, camping, collecting cars (Jeeps, Mustangs, Corvettes), and for the last 10 years of his life spending time in Cibola, AZ with his family and friends. Whatever he did, he was “all in.”

Bill was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, and friend. He will be sorely missed, and will forever hold a place in the hearts of those he loved and those who loved him back.

A Memorial Service will be held in his loving memory this Saturday, March 30th at 11AM at Halverson, Stone & Myers Mortuary, 1223 Cravens Avenue, Torrance, CA 90501
