Christopher Gipson Stark

Christopher Gipson Stark passed September 21, 2009. He was born in San Antonio, Texas to William W. Stark and Elizabeth Hurley Stark. He is survived by his wife Susana, his brother, Commander Timothy B. Stark and his sister, Katherine Stark Hurst, along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to academic pursuits at Louisiana State University and Northwestern University, he studied modern dance with the companies of Martha Graham, Alvin Ailey and classical ballet with the Harkness Ballet. Mr. Stark was Director of the Friends of Carnegie Hall, playing a key role in the $50 million capital campaign to refurbish the facility. He moved to the Broadway arena, producing "Execution of Justice", "The Rink", and "Jerry's Girls". He successfully launched the inaugural season of the Liv Ullman Main Street Theatre Company and took "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow is Enuf" in Brazil. He segued into the Motion Picture and Television Industry, working in various capacities on many productions, including "Ironclads", "The Jacksons: An American Dream", "Geronimo", "Medicine Ball", "Awake To Murder", "Netforce", "War Stories", "City of Angels", "The Day After Tomorrow", "Sideways" and "The Simpsons". He was a gourmet cook and loved hosting dinner parties for his family and friends. He had a great passion for dawn walks by the sea and doing the New York Times crossword puzzle in ink. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in his name. A private celebration of his life will be held for his family and friends.
