Born and raised on the rough scrabble streets of Detroit, David lived by his wits and had a deep love of daring adventures. He moved to Los Angeles with his sisters DeeDee and Lois and his mom Angie at age of eleven. California seemed to suit his free-spirited nature, allowing him to ride his bike from one side of the valley to the other, year round. But whether he was in California with his mom or Michigan with his Dad Isidore, he had a huge circle of friends and they enjoyed the typical 1950's life of fast cars, cool clothes and teen age schemes.
He married Virginia Incaudo at the age of 17 and joined the army shortly there after. He was overseas when his daughter Laurie was born and he 1st met her on the Art Linkletter Show as a surprise reveal for his young wife. Her tears when she saw her handsome soldier husband walk out to hold their new baby girl made for great TV!
By the time Dad was only 25, he had 3 children, Laurie, Darlene and David. It was hard being the sole breadwinner of a his family so he moved them all back to Michigan to be closer to his Dad, sisters, and the many cousins.
His youngest daughter Suzanne was born there but none of none of them were really suited for all that snow and David, who had married too young found himself with far too many differences to stay with Viginia. They were divorced and he followed new paths and passions. He met his soul mate Willa Lawson and along with his son David they opened a video arcade called FAD WORLD right in the midst of the video game revolution. It was a hit of course but it didn't bring in the big money David dreamed about.
Eventually the California sunshine and easy lifestyle called him back so he and Willa moved west.
For over 40 years he owned and ran Daves Gold and Silver Exchange in Lawndale CA with Willa. They worked hard focusing on building the business, taking many trips to Las Vegas and spending time with his mom Angie, her husband Eddie, brother Peter and sister Lois's family. It was a life he loved dearly until Willa passed away suddenly in 2011. That is when David's famous and abundant luck took a turn down a very rocky road, and while he still had good fortune smile on him sporadically, the sun had dimmed and the grief that darkened his door was overwhelming.
Meeting Alicia Rascon however was a new bright spot and a blessing. She was the opposite from Willa in many ways but her devotion to Dad was exactly the same. David knew how to win jackpots and he did just that with Alicia. They shared a love of casinos and comforted each other in their own personal losses of loved ones taken far too soon.
Dad was a real life gambler. Winning and losing amounts with all the zeros! He lived loud and talked tough with zero apologies.
He was proud of his business, his children and his life story.
We should all be so lucky ❤️
