Doug was born on April 23, 1954 in Redondo Beach, CA to Don Greenman and Olga “Sunny” Greenman. He grew up in Redondo Beach and enjoyed his boyhood days playing baseball, basketball, football, ping pong, pool, monopoly and everything else with his brother Lorin, friends and the neighborhood kids. He also spent many happy times in Bemidji, Minnesota visiting our great relatives from our Sundahl heritage! He grew up in a close-knit family that loved jazz music, golf, racetracks, and all sports. He attended Redondo Union High School and was Captain of the Varsity basketball team.
Doug worked for many years for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (“FEMA”) as an inspector. He also trained others in his field. He enjoyed traveling the country and helping people during disasters.... especially Katrina! He moved to Winchester, Virginia for his work, and remained there until his passing.
Doug is survived by his loving brother, Lorin, his twin sons .... Darin and David who he loved and was very proud of! He was also a loving uncle to Lauren and Leanna....his favorite nieces! Doug was a positive man who “lit up the room” and enjoyed "gassing" up others! His warm presence and fun spirit will be missed by all who knew him. He was very smart, great wit, humorous, respectful, engaging, and very kind and approachable. He cherished growing up in the Greenman family! He really loved our traditions! His great loves are family, friends, music, sports, and reruns of the Rifleman, Leave it to Beaver, Andy Griffith, Highway to Heaven, Gomer Pyle and others! We would discuss these shows on a daily basis! 😊
A memorial service will be held at Pacific Coast Cemetery Chapel, 2701 182nd Street, Redondo Beach, CA at 11:00 a.m. on September 30, 2022. A reception will be held a couple blocks away at the family home for a celebration of his life!
We love you Doug!
